In 1992, I wrote a children's rhyme about what it felt like to be the victim of child abuse and believe I was to blame.  "My Little Heart, Ruthie" is the result of my healing.  It will become a picture book with a narrated, jazz-inspired musical suite to go with it.  My goal is to release this book and album to remind all victims of abuse that what they suffered was NEVER their fault.

1992 was certainly a long time ago but in 2014, thanks to the support of a fellow Recording Academy musician, I was inspired to finish this project.  I have spent the last 3 years recording, illustrating, and finishing the book and album.  Now I need help to manufacture books and CD's and hire those all-important promoters for the book, the music, and the social media marketing.

THANK YOU for your consideration.  Please know how proud I am of having on the recording:  jazz harpist Carol Robbins, trumpeter Jon Crosse, acoustic bassist Granville "Danny" Young, and drummer Paul Tavenner.  And I am forever grateful to the amazing millennial Jennifer Mones who created every beautiful illustration.

Thank you again and again for considering supporting "My Little Heart, Ruthie."

Whenever we feel harmed by another, somehow society tells us that we are somehow to blame. This makes us want to isolate. I know this feeling very well. "My Little Heart, Ruthie" is a simple story rhyme about a heart in isolation told through art and music meant to remind us all that #itwasneveryourfault

It is true what they say that every little donation is meaningful. From the largest to the smallest, each donation is a boast to my emotions. Thank you each and everyone. Below is an illustration from the book where we find Ruthie beginning to emerge from her place of isolation.

Certainly an artist enjoys creating art so much more than promoting it. My least favorite is fund raising for it. But it is so heartwarming when I see the support that this project is getting. It is humbling.

Thank you so much to everybody who has contributed, whether large or small, it matters a lot to me. Here is the illustration that comes in the story when "Ruthie" is running away back to her little cell of isolation after suffering disappointments. It corresponds to the 11th movement in the musical score.
