Ruqayyah's Recovery
When Yusef and Majeda took the sweetest 7 year old ever, Ruqayyah, to the ER on Monday morning because she was complaining of headaches associated with vomiting, they never thought they would have to see Ruqayyah have such traumatic surgery. They found a golf sized brain tumor in Ruqayyah's brain that had obstructed the fluid pathways in her brain; this explained why Ruqayyah was unable to walk into the hospital from the car. Although they operated that same day, and the operation was a success, Ruqayyah has not fully woken up. She had been responsive (squeezing our hands when asked, etc.), but after her left lung collapsed, she has been only intermittently responsive to stimuli. The family has asked for prayers and positive thoughts for Ruqayyah, but as she has not woken up yet, the side effects from her surgery are not known. There is no way to know what kind of care Ruqayyah will need until she wakes up.
We, friends and family, want to ensure that the family is able to properly care for and support Ruqayyah while she is in recovery, while still being able to care for their other four children. We've set up this gofundme account so that the family can have the help needed. The goal is hefty, but the objective is to make sure that Ruqayyah is taken care of; any excesd money raised will either be given in charity in Ruqayyah's name to help other children, or put aside in a trust for her future care/education.
As of 02/10/17, Ruqayyah has been intubated, with a chest tube plus drainer to help drain excess brain
fluid.
The funds will be withdrawn ONLY by Ruqayyah's parents (Yusef and Majeda) and used for expenses associated with her care, recovery and health.
About Ruqayyah:
Ruqayyah is 7 years old and in the 1st grade. She has a love for all things chocolate, especially chocolate ice cream. Her favorite movie is Frozen and she loves being the queen of all things. She has a deep love for learning. She is an amazing mathematician and loves to read Junie B. Jones and Pinkalicious books. Her favorite band is DeenSquad and she is an awesome dancer.
Ruqayyah is always making sure her younger sisters are well taken care of, and always maks sure all her siblings are happy: she loves her family.
