The boy in the picture is our son F
inn.

When he was born 17 years ago, we were on cloud nine, happy new parents, beaming with joy, blissfully unaware of the story that was going to unfold.

At first it was “just” developmental delay. So we were concerned, but hopeful – until we were told “he will never catch up”. When the seizures started Crumlin Hospital became a second home for a while.

Finally, Finn was 7 at that time, he was diagnosed with a very rare chromosome disorder  (micro deletion); A tiny missing part with a huge impact that leaves our son both physically and mentally disabled, needing assistance with everything. He has no speech and cannot walk. He will never be independent.

Although we have always considered ourselves very lucky, because he is such a  happy, affectionate child.

For the most part of his life we have been lifting him in and out of his wheelchair, carrying him up the stairs to his bedroom, etc, in rented accommodation. We finally got our own house a couple of years ago, and now we are at the point where we cannot carry him anymore.

We need to adapt our house and extend it for him.

Finn needs a downstairs bedroom and bathroom, a ceiling hoist, a special changing table. Doors need to be widened; a ramp into the house needs to be built. We managed to get a grant - which helps – but is not enough.

We cannot stretch our finances any further.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Please donate what you can, tell your family, friends, colleagues about our son, share our story and help us to keep him living with us as long as possible.

Thank you!

 -Deutsche Version-

Vielen Dank!
