Roman Morrongiello's Medical Fund

Donation protected
In late February, my 18-year-old brother Roman was diagnosed with a severe case of bacterial meningitis. He battled for his life for nearly three weeks, undergoing two major brain surgeries, suffering from a stroke and experiencing nearly a half-dozen seizures.

I am forever beholden to the Lord for giving my brother a future so he can return to college someday, continue to pursue his passions and brighten the lives of others with his infectious laugh and tenderhearted personality.

Although he's made significant progress, Roman still faces a long road to recovery. And the medical bills my parents have already incurred are the first of many to ensure he receives the necessary physical therapy and continued care. Thus, I've created this page in the hope that friends, family and perhaps even strangers might be willing help my family with the expenses that keep mounting.

For the three weeks Roman was in the ICU at Good Samaritan Regional near his campus in Corvallis, Ore., my parents had to pay for plane tickets to and from California, lodging and transportation. They bought Roman food from his favorite restaurants once he was able to eat again because our stubborn little warrior is picky as can be. And they were forced to put their primary source of income – multiple real estate rehab projects across the San Francisco Bay Area – on hold to tend to their son.

When Roman was stable enough to move to a brain trauma rehabilitation center, my parents left Good Samaritan with a hefty medical bill in addition to the aforementioned expenses that accrued during the three weeks he was there. Roman is now home in California under the care of my parents, both of whom are self-employed and will continue to juggle their business with tending to their son.

It would be such a blessing and relief to my family to begin to make a dent in these bills because of the generosity of others. I don't know what lies ahead for Roman, but I do know he's determined to make as full a recovery as possible so he can be a normal teenager again – one whose compassion is undeniable and whose faith is unshakable.

What I do know is that the procedures Roman has already had, and the treatment he'll continue to receive, are costly. Beyond what I could have ever imagined. So I ask for your continued prayers, but also for your support by donating to this fund. Contributions of any amount will help.

My sincerest thanks,
Gabby Morrongiello
