The second annual Sigmund Freud Film Festival & Challenge welcomes narrative film entries to its 2019  non-competitive film festival and competitive film challenge. Between now and April 21, 2019, filmmakers can submit any film relative to Sigmund Freud or Freud’s theories for possible screening in the non-competitive category of the event.

Filmmakers can also choose to compete in the film challenge by  submitting an original 10-minute narrative film that includes the following elements, (1) a psychoanalytic  theory attributed to Sigmund Freud, (2) including the expression, ..true, but I wouldn’t say that…” expressed in any capacity in the video, (3) a “bird” , real or alive, picture or animal,  shown in any capacity in the video, and (4) a character named “Asia” of any gender, first or last name.

The $50 entry fee pays for TWO Free tickets  to the live screening at the museum.

Jean-Rene Rinvil (CEO of JRR studios), Monique Guggino (Director/Co-Founder of Wicked Window

Productions), and Kerry Glamsch (Screenwriter/Professor of Theatre, Cal State Sacramento) are the judges for the 2nd Annual competition.

On Sunday, May 5, 2019, the selected entries will be screened at the beautiful and and brand new Imagine Museum (/www.imaginemuseum.com/)  in downtown St. Petersburg, FL. to honor Dr. . Freud, 163th birthday on May 6, 1856. Free for the filmmakers! There will be awards and prizes for the best films, production efforts, and performances in the films. It is not too late to enter the first ever Sigmund Freud Film Challenge. The Evolutionary Film Festival presents its first annual Sigmund Freud Film Challenge in which indie filmmakers who are charged with making a 10-minute or less video that required these following elements: a Freudian theory or expression, the color yellow, “very interesting” as a line of dialogue, and Brown as the first or last name of any character.

Some of the Freudian concepts currently in development by the contest entrants include the Oedipus Complex, sublimation, dream interpretation, Omnipotence, and Eros and Thanatos.

The event is organized and promoted with the assistance of JRR Studios, the Evolutionary Project, the Tampa Bay Coalition of Reason, the Center for Inquiry Tampa Bay, the Tampa Film Society, and the local chapter of the Tampa Bay Psychoanalytic Society. The doors open at 6:30 pm with the program to start at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $8 available from the Villaggio Cinemas website.
