Robot art fights cancer and wins!

This was a project born out of love and we feel so blessed to have been able to work with such a talented, down to earth, and all around awesome soul. A longtime fan of Ronald, Ben decided to reach out and see if he could offer probono services to make a music video for an artist whose work and dedication to their craft he greatly admired and at the same time raise some funds for children's arts programs and a new local library in our small Colorado town. During the making of this music video someone close to us here in the studio was diagnosed with Cancer and we have decided that all the proceeds from this project should go toward research into new and novel treatment options. Chemo therapy only has a 2.8- 35% success rate and unfortunately the treatment ends up killing many.

There is not much money to be made in researching alternative therapies and much of the current research is all privately funded. This is where we hope to come in with your help:) We have chosen 3 charities to split the proceeds with- all helping cancer patients either physically battle their illnesses with tailored science based genetic testing of the cancer to determine a unique plan to fight their cancer or on emotional and psychological levels. A happy balanced person has been statistically shown to heal from all illness ( including cancer) much faster, so including the mind in all cancer treatments is a crucial yet often neglected component.

Ronald has been AWESOME and is donating 100% of the youtube revenue from this music video to the cause ( click on an ad! :))
Can we hit $5555 to celebrate Jenkees AMAZING 5th CD as well as help fund life saving and changing research?

Precision Medicine
https://www.ohsu.edu/xd/health/services/cancer/about-us/precision-medicine/

Today over 22,000 people worldwide will die of Cancer. Sadly for people with advanced stage 4 cancer that has spread (metastasized), this condition is generally incurable and almost always becomes fatal. Chemotherapy can extend life but generally doesn’t extend quality of life due to extreme toxicity. Median survival data is readily available on-line for most advanced cancers that have become ‘metastatic’ stage 4. It’s bleak.

Precision Medicine is a new way to battle cancer. Instead of a ‘one-size-fits-all’ therapy like chemo, precision medicine uses molecular profiling among other advanced research techniques to reveal the DNA fingerprint of an individual’s cancer. With that data, doctors can diagnose and potentially treat the disease more effectively. Today, precision medicine isn’t the ‘standard of care’ for most cancers, despite President Obama’s ‘Precision Medicine Initiative’ or the Vice President’s Cancer Moonshot project. Most advanced cancer patients are not familiar with molecular testing and the door remains shut to new options including clinical trials.

We need to change that. Molecular profiling can identify the mutations in DNA that are driving the growth of cancer and is key to personalizing cancer treatment.

OHSU and intel have partnered up and are together working on a novel aproach to changing how we treat cancer.

APOS -The American Psychosocial Oncology Society

https://apos-society.org

Psychosocial oncology is the sub-specialty in oncology that studies the psychosocial impact of cancer on patients at all stages of disease and their families. It also examines the role of behavioral and psychosocial factors in cancer risk, prevention and detection. Through clinical research healthcare professionals develop mental health care strategies that treat the mind as well as the body. Of the 40% of the population that will at one time in their lives be diagnosed with cancer 1/2 will also suffer mental health issues related to their diagnosis. With proper support this can be overcome and people can heal and thrive both physically and emotionally .

Fundamental
(Partnered with MAPS. Johns Hopkins, NYU, and the Imperial College of London)

New studies offer promising relief for a variety of mood-altering illnesses, through an unlikely source. A group of scientists at prestigious research institutions - NYU, Johns Hopkins, MAPS and the Imperial College of London - are conducting studies with psilocybin, MDMA and LSD to treat end-of-life distress, alcohol and drug addiction, PTSD, and find new applications for mental health.

So far the results are very promising, creating an opportunity for these groundbreaking treatments to be medicalized. Today, traditional sources of funding are lacking in support of this research. Pharmaceutical companies are not typically interested in psychedelics due to the misalignment between profit and impact—and though government entities have granted licenses to legally study the compounds—no funding has yet been provided. Due to the socio-political stigma of psychedelic compounds, and their classification as Schedule 1 substances, support for this research is critical.

Currently the research depends on the support of a few private donors and institutions, with no help from governments or pharmaceutical companies. These government approved clinical trials must receive continuous funding to go through the process towards medicalization and re-scheduling of the compounds. By crowdfunding scientific research, the friends and family of those affected by mental health finally have the opportunity to directly contribute to a solution.
