Reunite the Shoops
I'm not sure how to change the campaign as "successful" so for now -- we were successful! Please, if you were thinking of donating to us, donate to someone else who needs it!
J & B
My name is Jacinta. More than five years ago, I was lucky enough to meet Brandon, the man of my dreams. Unluckily for me, he happened to live in the US while I live in Canada.
Almost two years ago we were married, and since then we've been trying to rectify the whole not-living-together thing. We applied for his papers while he was up here, but the paperwork was lost somewhere along the way. We have to refile, and so this time we're doing it right. We have contacted an immigration attorney, and are in the process of putting his papers together to to apply for his permanent residency, this time from outside of Canada.
Unfortunately, living apart is expensive, and lawyers even moreso. That's where we're asking for help. Between the lawyer, the government fees, and the medical expences, it'll take about $4000.00 to get Brandon into the country. We're both working full-time, but putting together 4k in a month and a half is stretching our resources a little bit.
Every little bit helps, and with every donation we're closer to being able to live and work in the same country.
Thank you so much for reading, and thank you so very much for your support.
Jacinta & Brandon
It's been a while. I realize that. But here's an update for you.
For those of you that hadn't heard through social media, Brandon has gotten his PR. He is in Canada, has a job, all the exciting things. And it couldn't have happened without your help.
I swear I haven't forgotten about you. I am, however, a very, extremely slow knitter.
I want to send another thank you to everyone who has shared or contributed. I cannot express how grateful we are to everyone's kindness and generosity.
To those of you who earned rewards - worry not! I haven't forgotten! I have, since this campaign began, found a full-time job, moved, and a bunch of other stuff, so I'm a little behind on the knitting, but it's slowly but surely happening :)
Thank you all again, so very, very much <3
Just in time for Valentine's Day, here's a happy update.
Though we haven't reached our goal here on GoFundMe, I was able to land a really awesome job recently, and we can afford the rest of Brandon's immigration stuff.
Your rewards will be a little slower coming now that I'm working full time, but I'll have a kitchen all to myself and all my baking toys will be out of storage, so I'm very excited to make your cookies.
As a bonus while you wait, here's a photo we took to add to our immigration folder. Thanks to the new job, I could afford to visit.
Thanks, everyone, so, so much. I cannot express how grateful I am - we are - to have such generous, supportive folks in our lives. I hope one day we can return the favour.
Just a quick update for you - the lawyer has been officially retained! Thanks to all your generosity, the paperwork will be in (hopefully!) by the end of this month! Obviously, there's still a lot of legal fees left to pay for, but to be able to get him on retainer now means we can start filling in paperwork and sending it out - which is the most important part.
Thanks you again,
My husband and I were in the same situation, I sponsored him to come to canada, it then took four years to get his papers but he was in canada the whole time. There were only process fees for us we went to a immigration help office or mpp office to get the forms filled out properly, I wish u both luck !
