Return Matan To Self-Sufficiency

$26,244 of $25,000 goal

Raised by 202 people in 17 months
I am seeking your financial support of my decision to revolutionize my life by getting a colostomy.  As my physical health has declined over the last few years due to the increasing need for this surgery, I have faced ever-increasing restrictions on my ability to work and support myself. As the above post explains, the surgery will do far more than simply restore me to the level of productivity that allowed me to maintain a successful legal career, it will allow me greater work flexibility than ever before, and thus a wider variety of job opportunities, all but ensuring my self-sufficiency.

To be able to support myself through surgery and recovery, however, I need to raise between 10 and $25,000. For more on the details of  that number, and my decision to seek support publicly, I invite you to check out this blog post. Thank you for helping me to get back on my feet, returned to self-sufficiency, and continue to contribute my talents and energy to our world.

Hey guys! This campaign took me so very far. I am medically recovered, feeling better than ever, and adjusting to my new life. As it turns out, however, there were many unexpected costs that have arisen in my recovery, so I have launched a supplemental campaign to get us over the finish line. Please share it, and I know that we will get there together. https://www.gofundme.com/completing-my-independence-journey

Friends, this will likely be my last official update to this campaign. With your generous gifts on and off-line, we have well exceeded my original goal. I am truly without words. We named this campaign help in my return to self-sufficiency, and truly you have given me the resources to get through the surgery, and to be well-positioned to capitalize fully on the opportunities that it presents for me to give up myself, and in so doing fully support myself. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart and forever. Matan PS. For those who did not see the last update, the surgery is scheduled for February 22. Keep me in your prayers, and for those who follow the traditional Jewish construction, my Hebrew name is Matan Aryeh and my mother Rosalyn has the Hebrew name Rachel.

A huge update: first of all, I have a surgery date. February 22 is the big day. Second of all: with online and off-line commitments, we have actually exceeded our goal! I really do not have words for how grateful I am for your collective and individual amazing generosity. I really do believe that this is the beginning of a new chapter, returned to self-sufficiency, returned to health, and more comfortable and productive that I have ever been. Now, I ask of you one more gift. Pray with me and for me for an uneventful surgery, and an easy recovery, and all of the successes that we hope for.

Breaking news! We've surpassed $15,000, 60% of the goal, in about 2.5 days. I'm floored by each contributor's generosity, and by the more than $2000 you've raised by sharing campaign in your own networks. Please keep sharing!
