SO this is us, The Reece Family Household. We're a fun loving family who love to explore, help others and generally get out and about. Our favourite activities included off-road mountain biking, cricket on the beach and camping. Most of our activities involved trekking, camping, loud music and jumping from trees.

Then I got P.T.S.D. & M.E. and I went from swinging from the trees on a Go Ape adventure to bedbound, housebound and wheelchair bound. There is no treatment for M.E. and the medical profession are only just recognising M.E. as a biomedical disorder. Research is slow, but people have been languishing for decades with this illness. I refuse to give up hope, but I'm also refusing to put my life on hold waiting for them to catch up.

So this was us in 2009. The Reece Family Household on a holiday in Dorset. We were an active family who used to have an eclectic mix of exploring, biking, and general outdoorsy activities. We'd try most things once, and sometimes twice just to make sure, we are a little weird!

Swing forward to 2016 and this is me, and yes I hate this photo. This is me in a wheelchair shop trying out wheelchairs when we, as a family, realised that I was in less pain and less fatigued when I used a wheelchair full time. I can acheive so much more, like actual full days out WITH activities. I sobbed my heart out just after this. Sat in my car, with my heart breaking, in a service station. To say I hit rockbottom would be an understatement.  I'm not asking you to fund a wheelchair, you see I was assessed by the amazing NHS and I qualify for a full time chair so I have been prescribed one.  However power chairs are impossible to get funded. I have M.E. and you only have to google it to see the political issues!

So what am I asking for?
Basically there are a few pieces of equipment which would make a massive amount of difference to us. They're called a Freewheel, off-road wheels and a Smartdrive MX2. It would enable us to get out more, and get back to doing what we were before. Walks in Thetford forest, chasing my, now 11 year old, son round the park, training with my husband to do 5km races to fundraise for the ME Association, and anything else which takes our fancy, go for coffee with friends (havent done this in a while), travel anywhere and everywhere, but mostly to get out of my house.

There's so so much we want to do. And I'm very aware how much my youngest has grown since I've been ill. I realised the other day he's never seen me healthy.  I want to put that right before he gets much older.

Please help me put that right.
