This $3,000.00 will buy paperback books, doughnuts, t-shirts and happiness for a diverse and hilarious group of high school students.
The members of the Reading Rocks book club are students at Rock Island High School in Rock Island, Illinois. They LOVE to read and get together and talk about reading and books and fan fiction and video games and life.
They have grown over their three years from a club of two or three girls and the sponsor to well over 30 male and female students and the sponsor and a YA librarian from our local public library . 
The doughnut fund is dwindling rapidly. The Rocks vote on which book to read next and the adult in the room tries to get enough copies for everyone through interlibrary loan. As the group expands it is becoming increasingly difficult to acquire enough books to satisfy the need.
As an added difficulty, the library books are often due WAY before we are done talking about them. Further potential dwindling of funds ensues. To ameliorate this problem, our GoFundMe funds will allow us to buy paperback copies for all of the Reading Rocks, giving them their own copy of the book that won't need to be returned.
The students have designed a t-shirt that we could order if the funds are available. Studies show that high school students that own books and wear t-shirts with book club logos
are not only happier and cooler than other people, they are less likely to smoke cigarettes, mock their mother's style of dress, and make snide remarks during assemblies.
