Fostering Furry Friends - Finding Forever Families... that's our goal. We are currently fostering 35 animals and have had over 150 dogs spayed/neutered in the past two years. All our animals are vaccinated and socialized until they find their forever homes. Help us keep going?
Welcome to RARFS (Rural Animal Rescue & Foster Society). Our mission is to protect domestic animals through fostering programs and good adoptions. We're dedicated to preventing animal cruelty and overpopulation through public education and awareness. We are self-funded and, we and our foster families, look after all the animals in the rescue. All our animals are up to date on vaccines, get spayed/neutered, and receive monthly flea and heart worm prevention treatments. Now you know why we are raising funds.
We started our work because so many animals especially dogs and cats, are mistreated and abandoned in Tennessee. We found so many hurts and mistreated dogs, puppies and older dogs, that we could not, in good conscience, leave them out there to starve or be hurt further.
We are located in Middle Tennessee which is very under served for dog welfare, rare no-kill shelters and very few places where dogs can go. We mostly rescue animals in Smith and Overton counties in Tennessee but have been asked to take animals from other counties when needed.
We started with a couple of dogs, over 150 dogs have gone through our rescue and been adopted after being fully vaccinated, neutered/spayed, and made healthy (we make sure they receive any medical treatment needed to make them well) and ready to go to their forever families. We currently have 30 dogs and fourteen puppies in need of homes and/or vetting.
We work to get as many rescues to good homes as quickly as possible, but we are rigourous in our adoption process. While we look for forever homes for them, we don't want to send our dogs to bad situations so we do all we can to ensure that they get into excellent homes. Our dogs are available anywhere in the continental USA and Canada as long as they can be transported to their new home, safely and comfortably.
