RAFFM - Giving Tuesday Berks

Our goal here at the Reading Area Firefighters Museum is to raise awareness and funds to help preserve and protect the valuable objects in our collection that tell a wonderfull story about the firefighting history here in Berks County.

The Reading Area Firefighters Museum is committed to the preservation of the 1876 built structure at South Fifth & Laurel Streets, Reading, PA. This includes the building contents consisting of firefighting memorabilia, antique furnishings, and the John Wanamaker designed "best room". The museum will serve as a permanent facility for the public exhibition and the safe storage of items related to the history of firefighting in the Reading & Berks County area.


We hope to raise $5,000.00 to help in the aide of preserving  and protecting our artifacts from further deteriation, and help raise awareness of the presence of the Museum here in Reading Pennsylvania.


In the past year we have had some great donations, here is some of the projects that were accomplished by the generous donations:

Improved display cabinets

New State of the art Fire & Burglar alarm system

Survaliance video camera system

Building maintence - Painting of Engine Bays

Purchase of the  1924 American La France Fire Engine

Repair Work on the 1940 Mack Fire Engine

Dozens of local nonprofits will take part in a social media campaign in November, culminating in a
crescendo of coordinated social media output on November 29, which is #GivingTuesday around the
globe. The #GivingTuesdayBerks hashtag will help people find charities that are participating locally.
After Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday encourages and applauds those who set aside some time and money for charity at the holidays. Please look for the hashtag #GivingTuesdayBerks on social media, and pick an organization to receive your donation of time or money.Also, please listen to WEEU 830 AM, the Voice of Berks County, from 9 a.m. to noon on November 29 when #GivingTuesdayBerks will be the subject of a live broadcast from Wyomissing Restaurant and Bakery.
