Little Old Lady Quilting

"Create Beauty and fill the World with LOVE!" That has been my motto for my whole life.

As someone who has been a creative person and a struggling artist all my life, there has often been that disconnect between the part of me that treasures the discipline and the skills of creating v.s.  the practical part of finding and building a career that will sustain me and provide for me in life in my old age.

I have worked as a professional dancer, actor, singer, a landscape painter, a waitress, secretary, housekeeper, real estate salesperson, a fabric artist, in retail sales, government worker, etc, etc, and etc. But finding the balance between creative and practical has  somehow deluded me.

I am NOT lazy. Like most middle-class Americans, I was raised with a strict work ethic that thought nothing of working a 8 - 10-hour day then going to the theatre and putting another 10 hours on what I loved. But there was never much money in it. Needless to mention, there is not much in my retirement accounts. I have also always resisted accepting the "entitlements" people say we should have, handouts from the government (unemployment, food stamps, and etc. ) because I always thought they were meant for those less fortunate than I who could NOT work.

Now, I am at an age in my life where a lot of doors have closed to me, too old for many jobs, too young for medicare, or to collect what tiny bit of social security someone like I might receive.

I do have one particular gift, though, that I believe can give me a fairly good living for the rest of my life.  That is using my artistic gifts and my skills with a needle and a good machine to create quilting masterpieces for others. I am in the process of setting up my home as a shop where I can quilt for other people the quilt tops that they have pieced together for friends and family, as well as art quilts for other artists. So far I have been doing this with my small personal machines, but  I have reached a point where I need a good quality professional industrial machine to be able to achieve the volume and quality of work that will support me for the remainder of my life. This is a job I love, and from which no one will ever force me to retire because I am "too old" or not as fast as I once was.

I am raising money the only way I know how, here, for this:

The Machine that opens doors for the rest of my life!

With this machine, I can take in enough work to ensure that I can survive on my own for the rest of my life and Create Beauty and serve my fellow beings. I will have both a purpose for the rest of my life and a means of survival.
