Quiet Santa - A Unique Sensory-Friendly Event

A trip to the mall to sit on Santa's knee is a special event for families, but the holiday hustle and bustle can be overwhelming for kids with autism and other special needs. The Quiet Santa event offers these children an opportunity to meet with Santa in a quiet setting; away from the mall, the lights, and loud noises.

Our goal is to continue this event annually and eventually be able to offer the Quiet Santa experience in other communities. There is no charge to the families attending. We solely rely on donations and volunteers to make this event possible.

2013 marks our second-annual Quiet Santa event. This year we are thrilled to announce that we host Quiet Santa over the course of two days in December to better accommodate schedules.

With your donations, we can supply each attending child with a small gift from Santa, a keepsake photo opportunity, and provide a quiet area for waiting families. Additional expenses include supplies, costumes, snacks, and materials.

Thank you for your consideration!

Update 4

The 2013 Quiet Santa event was a success. We had 40 children visit us this year; which is double from 2012. Many families reported that this was their first time getting their child to visit with Santa.

Our photographers did an AMAZING job! I highly recommend Raspberry Lane Photography and Roots to Wings Photography. These ladies went above and beyond for us and the families that attended.

We received news coverage from CBS (chan. 3) and NBC (chan. 15). You can view the video from NBC here: http://www.nbc15.com/home/headlines/Quiet-Santa-offers-calm-experience-for-kids-on-autism-spectrum--235952461.html

Thank you (!!) for your donations. We couldn't have done this without your support.

Watch for Quiet Santa again in 2014.

Your hosts,
Julie Sheldon, Jim Sheldon, and Dave Farwell.

Thank you for helping make this possible!

Such a brilliant idea! My kids were terrified of Santa, and a lot of autistic adults I know can't stand to be in a mall - for kids it's probably worse. Hope you have an incredible turnout!
