Give Chance a Chance!

Say hello to our newest foster puppy Chance. This sweet 5-month-old puppy came to the Colorado Saint Bernard Rescue last week because his back legs stopped working at 3 1/2 months old. No one knows why and his owners were unable to afford further testing. They surrendered him to a wonderful rescue in Missouri whose vet was unable to find anything wrong and recommended an MRI. Unfortunately, the Missouri Rescue was unable to raise the $2,000 for the MRI so she contacted CSBR to see if we could help. Bob Merkin, one of our terrific volunteers, drove all the way to Kansas to pick up Chance.

Dr. Nickerson at the Mesa Veterinary Hospital saw Chance on Monday. She confirmed he does have feeling in all his legs, he does not suffer from neck pain, and he is able to wag his tail. He does unfortunately have an ear infection but CSBR already put him on medication.  Dr. Nickerson also ran a urinalysis and additional blood work and we should know the results in a few days. Chance is scheduled for the MRI and CSF tap on Thursday April 28.  Hopefully by the end of the week we will have an answer regarding his paralysis.

In the meantime, please continue to send positive prayers and energy, and if possible please consider donating to help us with Chance’s vet bills. Thank you so much for your continued support of the Colorado Saint Bernard Rescue. We will make sure to keep you posted on his progress!
