Protected Criminality, The Movie

Plot…

"Brett Williams, a husband and father of 4 children unexpectedly has his private residence raided by Federal agents. Brett learns while in custody that his once trusted neighbor and family friend (Andy Morris) “out of concern” snitched on Brett for modifying some of his personal firearms in violation of the National Firearms Act. In an exhausting yet difficult attempt to restore his freedom and confiscated property, Brett finds that he must revisit history with his attorney, in order to vigorously use the constitution and truth to convince a Jury of peers that his protected rights have been violated."

What is the meaning behind the movie title "Protected Criminality"???

It is important to have a short and to-the-point title which simply points out that the "people" have a constitutionally protected right to "arms" without any exception clause, and yet are criminalized for exercising those very rights.

"The National Firearms Act is the most egregious infringement on the right to keep and bear arms in the history of the United States!"

"Recent events in history such as Ruby Ridge and Waco have shown that federal gun prohibitions and regulations are far more deadly than the restricted firearms themselves. Such laws destroy lives and freedoms."

Why a movie???

Film has the ability to drive powerful emotions. In turn, emotion then has the ability to teach and cause one to retain knowledge. Correctly channeled emotions also inspire positive actions that are necessary to change things for the better. We see the news media misuse this often by driving negative emotions which are based on half truths and even outright lies. As an example, the media loves to sensationalize a shooting and use such an event to drive illogical fear and radical anger. As a result, these fears cause many in the public to ether sacrifice principles of liberty, or to be resistant to learning the truth behind the event at hand. Whether used correctly or misused, this emotional tool has been proven to be highly effective over and over. It is imperative that we use the same tool correctly to promote liberty and facts.

I want those who view this film to experience a broad range of emotions when a man who has done nothing more than modify some dimensions on a piece of metal that he owns, is faced with long term imprisonment away from his wife, children, and home. The very idea of property ownership comes into question, if one can be criminalized for mere modification. This should be chilling to the bone for anyone who believes in individual liberty or ownership of inanimate objects. Equally chilling is the idea that citizens, family, and friends can be our most trusted allies and fellow keepers of the constitution on one hand, or when misinformed and unprincipled on the other hand, they become a clear and present danger to individual liberty, and even our lives. While these scenes may initially drive emotions and anger, the end purpose of this film is to present positive ideas and cause the viewer to focus on viable solutions. The purpose is to paint correct principles and help everyone understand the constitution as it applies to true gun rights. This will cause the viewer to gain hope. It will inspire actionable and constructive behaviors toward preserving/restoring our constitutional rights, as well as enabling the viewer to truly educate their elected representatives and most importantly, their fellow citizens!

What is the message behind this film???

1. After observing gun owners arguments on Facebook over the years, I realized that it not only accomplishes little, but it also creates a deeper hole. Many gun owners are focused on the firearms platform they love, but with little to no consideration for protecting  differing platforms of others. Some AK vs. AR enthusiasts would be fine if the platform of the other was banned. Likewise, some 1911 vs. Glock enthusiasts would also be perfectly fine if the platform of the other was banned, as long as what's important to them is untouched. We see this attitude with bump stocks as well. Those who didn't find value in them dismissed a ban as no problem at all, because "bump stocks are stupid." While firearms are tools and were never intended solely to be "collectors items," some who collect pre 1986 machine guns are perfectly fine with no one else being able to obtain one legally, since it may hurt their bottom line in the collectors value. These examples all exhibit a very dangerous attitude and a steep price for all to pay in the near future. If any platform or accessory can be banned, all of it can and will be banned in time. If we don't start standing on principles together and fighting the battles for one another, everyone will lose everything alone.

2. So many modern Americans have little to no understanding of their inherent rights. Many gun owners also fall into this category with their serious lack of understanding, and its evident with sayings such as “I’m all for gun rights but I get along just fine with my bolt action ... no one needs an automatic weapon to hunt or target practice… why would we allow anyone to have a machine gun?” An even more common saying now days is “I don’t care about the new law… bump stocks are stupid... accessories aren’t protected… I can do the same thing with my finger and belt loop.” These common examples display a fundamental lack of key understanding and/or a serious disconnect with basic principles. Ideas such as these make us ripe for tyranny and must be corrected quickly. If a bump stock or even a true machine gun can be regulated out of existence, precedent has already been set for all other "arms" to be infringed upon! The lack of relentless vocal and legal opposition to current infringements from the people will become consent to future infringements.

3. While its natural to become frustrated and angry when our rights fall under attack, such emotions need to be kept in check for many reasons. First of all, anger often leads to negativity. So many gun owners frequently say “it’s never going to happen” when the idea of restoration of rights, or repeal of unconstitutional laws are promoted. With this type of poor mindset, negative people are correct, nothing good will ever be accomplished. Secondly, the public views excessive anger as a “red flag” which causes fear and bolsters the idea that gun owners are somehow dangerous and short fused. Gun owners should always conduct themselves as restrained, professional, educated, principled, meticulous, and yet assertive in presentation of arguments.

4. The absurdly of this day and age is that many unprincipled Americans cry for rights not directly spelled out in the bill of rights which are more less entitlements, but yet these same people are asking for true and protected rights such as the 1st and 2nd amendments as an example, to be removed. Too many Americans and politicians operate on grossly ill-informed ideals that they can somehow debate and vote to remove the inherent rights of their fellow Americans.  Many misinformed ideas include... "The supreme court interprets the meaning of the constitution and bill of rights for us... The 2nd amendment isn't an absolute right because its says the militia and people can be well regulated... The founders only had muskets and never foresaw the gun technology of today." By exposing true history and bringing the correct principles to light through film, we can and will quash many of these dangerous ideas to liberty.

About the Director, Jamie Forbush...

I often contribute to gun rights pages and forums. I believe in our constitution and individual liberties. I stand behind the philosophy of "no compromise" when it comes to elected officials and unprincipled citizens who are all too willing to sacrifice our individual liberties. In moderating “Repeal the Hughes Amendment ” and “Repeal the NFA ” page(s) and/or group(s) over the past several years, I realized that its not enough to just argue topics and “like” posts. There has to be actionable substance to our principles or we will surly stand to lose our rights.

I have a 16 year background in computer forensics, dealing in the criminal justice system of which I recently retired. Prior to that, I came from the background of audio/lighting/stage works as well as film and special effects. I have also hosted shows on both live TV and AM/FM broadcasting. With the experience and passion for the talents I listed, combined with my desire to see myself and my fellow citizens be as free as our founding fathers truly envisioned for America, I decided I really need to make this film happen. The time is now more than ever, as our rights are under attack today, more than any time I previously remember.

I have a new window of opportunity! I'm willing to dedicate all my production time for the next 1 to 1 ½ year(s) to the completion of this movie. But in the interim, I will have to be able to survive financially and feed my family, as well as manage all the production costs associated. There will be no other ability on my part during this time frame in which I will be able to generate business income due to time constraints, which will halt time spent on other productions and/or projects.

Costs involved in producing this film…

The goal is to shoot this motion picture in 8K Vista Vision and deliver in Ultra HD 3840x2160, HD 1920x1080, and SD 720x480. True Vista Vision as a format is more accurate with depth perception do to a greater field of view. It allows great latitude when shooting vintage scenes. This format was being toyed around with as early as the 1930's and officially became a standard developed by Paramount in the 1950's. This format is quickly making a comeback in cinematography today for visual effects and used in many modern films such as Guardians of the Galaxy. Since Vista Vision is a larger format, true cinematic lenses for this size are expensive. As well as other accompanying equipment.

-Equipment Rental, lighting, rigging equipment, lenses

-Talent including primary actor(s) and extra(s)

Contributions, Recognition, Community Benefit

The intent of this film is not to be a revenue generating film once released. It has one purpose in mind and that is to educate the public through entertainment and suspense. That being the case, this movie is unique in many ways.

1. While we will retain the copyright on this work in order to protect both the intent of the film and the context behind what it will attempt to teach, this film will not be subject to public display or duplication restrictions. It was intended to be a tool to easily put in front of as many eyes/ears as possible, in order to clear up so much misinformation regarding the right to keep and bear arms.

2. Actors, producers, directors, set contractors, lighting and audio, graphics designers, colorists, makeup artists, etc. involved in the physical production of this film will still need to earn a living while dedicating their time to this work exclusively, and until completion. This film therefore will require funding contributions from those who believe in the 2nd amendment and who wish to see such rights protected and restored as originally intended.

3. This film is a work that can involve everyone on some level wishing to play a part in it's completion and overall success. While a financial contribution is critically important, equally prudent is for everyone to pass this information along. Simply sharing on a personal Facebook wall isn't effective. One must also comment on their wall post and tell others why this is such an important endeavor. Also, passing this information along by way of contacting other liberty/constitution based or gun rights organizations/groups and encouraging them to notify all of their members/followers is absolutely critical. In person (human to human) initial introduction and warm contacts are the most effective. This cannot be emphasized enough.

Since this is a community project, we wanted to offer recognition to those who contribute a significant amount financially. We are greatly appreciative of all contributions! Keep in mind that the purpose of contributing financially to this film is really about everyone playing a part in helping to preserve our rights, over merely recognition and perks. That said however, the recognition we are offering is within the opening/closing credits of the movie, as well as a few other perks listed below. If a financial contributor ultimately wishes to remain anonymous, we will honor that request as well.  Individual and organizational based financial contributors can be eligible to have recognition by way of credits.
