Star volunteer is in desperate straits
My family is in danger of losing the home we have lived in for the past 23 years. I have been unemployed for several months and have been struggling to meet my financial obligations. Months ago I completely depleted my savings, and I have no family to turn to for help. I am two months behind on all of my bills, including my home utilities (water, electricity, gas and garbage removal), telephone, internet service (vital to my line of work), credit card payments, car payment, and auto insurance. Unless I receive help I will not be able to pay my mortgage.
Last October, while having a wisdom tooth extracted I suffered a broken jaw. Although my jaw has finally healed, I now have nerve damage to the entire left side of my jaw, including my lower lip and chin. I have no sensation in the area extending from the middle of my chin to under my left ear. Initially, the oral surgeon that performed the surgery advised me that I may need a second surgery to fix my broken jaw. He also advised that the nerve damage may be permanent. Unfortunately, this does seem to be the case as it has now been over 6 months since the tragic incident, and there is no reason to expect that my condition will change over time.
On March 2nd this year I became very ill with a severe upper respiratory infection, as well as strep throat and flu. As of today I am still trying to get well. I am on a third course of antibiotics (each one has been different) and still have not gotten my normal voice back. A week ago I experienced a severe and very painful muscle strain in my left side due to involuntarily coughing, which was triggered by the respiratory infection. The illness has been severe and debilitating, as friends and family will attest.
I have had no medical insurance since being laid off from my last full-time job. Ideally I need to have full dental implant surgery. And I have been advised that this may be the root cause of my medical problems.
I have been looking for a job, and I send out resumes and applications daily and will continue to do so. I have had several interviews but have not landed a job yet. I am a Certified Network Engineer. One of my other talents is creating web sites, and I am a Microsoft-trained virus and malware specialist. In the past eighteen years I have performed over 25,000 hours of volunteer work helping those in need around the world. Due to the accidental death of my father, I began working (in 1964) to support my family while in the seventh grade; at the time I was just 13 years old. Since then (for the past 43 years) I have worked 40-90 hours a week supporting my family.
I have never asked for help from anyone up until this time. In fact, I have done the opposite. I've freely and tirelessly given of my time and energy to a multitude of people. This is the first time I have asked for help.
To get through this crisis and catch up on past due bills, my family needs $15,000.00. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any assistance you can give.
