Pelmang Nepal School Rebuilding

Can you help us rebuild a school  classroom in a remote area of Nepal?

Pelmang Lower Secondary School has about 392 students and many students walk for an hour or more to get to school. The school was badly damaged in the 2015 earthquake.

Lakpa Thering Sherpa is the director of Action for Nepal, a non profit registered organisation working to support the development of remote communities through the improvement of health, education and the empowerment of locals. Lakpa recently visited this area.

Lakpa says, " I was very impressed by the dedication and hard work of the head teacher, teachers and School Management Committee to improve the education quality in the school. It is hard to find this kind of school where so much hard work is put in by the teachers. Most of the people from this village are dependent on trekking in the Everest region. They are from Rai ethnical background. Financially, they are very behind.

Unfortunately, the two school block of five rooms was badly damaged by last year's earthquake. Due to lack of classrooms the children are still using this block. There is a high risk that the wall of the building might fall down any time."

We are looking for funds to rebuild a two room classroom block for these children. 

In November 2016, 10 of us are visiting Lakpa and working on one of the Action for Nepal projects. We would be very excited to be able to donate the funds for Pelmang school to him at this time.
