Pay it forward Solar

$7,251 of $7,251 goal

Raised by 9 people in 87 months
Well, we did it.

Kim & I got solar on our roof. We put in $7000 for a down payment, and got $251 in donations, and we have sent a solar panel off to Burning Man.

Troy went off an ran for http://mayortroy.com and is campaigning to make Minneapolis a net energy generator with solar panels and wind power.

A year ago, I wanted to start a non-profit. It looks like some folks in Boulder beat me to it.. http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/campaign-for-local-power

In the meantime, I decided to go political and run for http://mayortroy.com

We also sent a solar panel off to burning man. Now I'm focusing on running for mayor, and on farming, and I think it's time to retire the pay it forward solar gofundme site.

Thank you all for your help.

You might notice the new picture, now with panels. The donations have been worth far more than the monetary value, it's encouraged both Kim and I that we're doing the right thing.

Thank you, and please stay tuned for more details on the non-profit.

Solar investment by Kim & Troy: ~$40,000
Donations from pay it forward solar: $251

Half the array producing and balancing out usage of two window air conditioners, so the electric meter stops: Priceless.

What projects (or roofs) should we pay the $251 forward to when we get the first rebate check?

In the next few weeks I will be writing a check for about $20,000 that came out of my 401k to start our solar install. If you want to know why I think this is a good investment, take a look at http://www.theoildrum.com/node/9182#more>The Oil Drum: New IMF Working Paper Models Impact of Oil Limits on the Economy. Then when we get our first rebate check, we'll be looking for another location to pay your generous donations forward to.

The bank gave Kim a convenience check, so we used it for the other half of the down payment
