Dear Friends, I've been invited to take part on the Venice Design during the Venice Biennale in 2019. The curators have selected the works 'Pillars of Cloud & Fire 2016' to be displayed amongst the international works of many esteemed designers, artists and creators. The opening is on May 9th & 10th, 2019 and the works are on display from May 11th to November 24th 2019 Rococo gallery of the Palazzo Michiel. The event attracts Over 200.000 annual visitors and the entry to view the gallery is free (because we believe design should be accessible to all) and the space contributed by the city of Venice, However because it is free entry there is a fee for artists & designers to participate. A fee I am not able to fund on my own, therefore I am looking for your support to assist me in taking part in this very exciting opportunity. I have been humbled in the past to gain support whether financial, contributions of time or simple positive feedback, all is and are always welcome. :)
Please Note: As of October 23rd, The GAA Foundation requested from The European Cultural Centre a first contribution, they have lovingly granted the first installment of 2600€ towards my the initial, to see my paper works in Venice YAY! :D a generous contribution for small designers to still participate and not be held back by lack of financial resources. This makes my exhibition fee 5000€ instead of the original 7600€. I am very thankful for this!
Now where the raised money is going:
5,000,- € ( reduced from 7600€) -"exhibition support amount” for a small space (max. 3 sqm) includes: display from May-November 2019, PR, website representation, an opening party for Press & public, season closing party, installation, site security and maintenance, etc.
Shipping fee & insured artworks from Berlin to Venice and return has also been covered by a generous offer by Original in Berlin, the design showroom where the pillars are on display. Thank you Lars! www.originalinberlin.com
1000€ - flights and accommodations for the artist and assistant to be a present at the opening and closing of Venice Design 2019

About 'Pillars of Fire & Cloud 2016' works:
Pillar of Silver Cloud (by day) This piece is one part of a duo series that explores the famous saying ‘every cloud has a silver lining’, referencing the part where the sun kisses the clouds edge, making it glow. This example visually interprets a cloud representing despair and its ‘silver lining’ the glimmer of hope. A pillar of clouds were also used scripturally to guide the lost to the promise land. Evidently the lush features of flowers, leaves and shapes depict a hint interpretation of what the promised land was hoped to be like.
Pillar of Gold Fire (by night) Second part of the duo pillar series, in the same scriptural reference represents the guidance fire that led the lost by night. Gold making reference to the saying ‘Refined by fire’, most frequently in terms of ones life being refined by experiences and shaped in its utmost potential, until refined again. Different layers of the pillar explain the beauty of what each refinement could hold.
Medium: cardboard frame & paper approx. size 50cm tall by 25cm wide/ 80cm tall by 35cm wide

Liebe Freunde, ich brauche eure Unterstützung für die Teilnahme an der Venice Design 2019 – im Rahmen der Biennale in Venedig.
Die GAA Foundation hat mich eingeladen, dort auszustellen. Ich hab mich wahnsinnig gefreut, dass die Kuratoren dafür mein Projekt „Pillars of Fire and Cloud 2016“ neben den Objekten vieler toller internationaler Designer und Künstler ausgewählt haben. Leider gibt es eine recht hohe Teilnahmegebühr für Künstler und Aussteller, weil das Event für alle Besucher kostenfrei ist und die Stadt Venedig nur den Ort zur Verfügung stellt.
Das European Cultural Centre unterstützt mich mit 2.600 Euro – die verbleibenden 5.000 Euro möchte ich jetzt mit eurer Hilfe aufbringen. Ich freue mich über jeden einzelnen Betrag!
Hier nun was mit dem gespendeten Geld passiert:
5.000 Euro beinhalten die Standfläche (max. 3. m²) für die Ausstellungszeit von Mai bis November 2019, PR, Darstellung auf der Website, Opening-Party für die Presse und die Öffentlichkeit, Closing-Party, Installation, Security und Instandhaltung etc.
1.000 Euro – Flug und Unterkunft für die Künstler und Assistenten um während der Eröffnung und des Endes der Venice Design 2019 anwesend zu sein.
400 Euro – Für unerwartete Fälle.
Die Kosten für Versand und Versicherung der Objekte von Berlin nach Venedig wurde mir großzügig von Original in Berlin gezahlt, dem Showroom wo die „Pillars“momentan ausgestellt werden. Danke Lars! www.originalinberlin.com

Über meine Arbeiten „Pillars of Fire and Cloud 2016“:
Pillars of Silver Cloud (am Tag) ist der erste Teil eines Diptichons, das sich mit dem Sprichwort „ein Silberstreifen am Horizont“ auseinander setzt. Die Wolke symbolisiert die Verzweiflung und der „Silberstreifen“ den Funken Hoffnung. In der Bibel hat eine Wolkensäule die Verlorenen ins gelobte Land geführt.
Der zweite Teil Pillar of Gold Fire (Nachts) bezieht sich auf die gleiche Bibelstelle und repräsentiert das das Leuchtfeuer das die Verlorenen nachts führt. Gold steht hier für das Sprichwort „refined by Fire“ (durchs Feuer verfeinert), es wird oft verwendet wenn ein Mensch durch Erfahrungen wieder und wieder geprägt wird und dadurch sein volles Potential ausschöpft.

Über die Biennale
Die Eröffnung findet am 9. und 10. Mai statt, meine Arbeiten werden vom 11. Mai 2019 bis zum 24. November 2019 in der Rococo Gallerie von Palazzo Michiel gezeigt. Die Biennale Venedig hat jährlich um die 200.000 Besucher.
