Palms MS Ballet Folklorico Son de la Palma 
Palms MS Ballet Folklorico Son de la Palma was established in October 2016. It is an after school program that was founded by Ms. Esmeralda Magaña a volunteer UCLA student and professional dancer. Their new instructors are Ms. Monica Magaña (sister of Esmeralda) and Mr. Kenneth Sanchez also UCLA volunteer students and professional dancers . The group is composed of approximately 15-20 students ranging from 11 to 13 years old. This past school year our students worked very hard and mastered the dances from two Mexican states. With gofundme sponsors and the hard work of both students and their parents one costume (pictured) was able to be purchased. For the 2017-2018 school year their goal is to master dances from two more Mexican states and purchases their dance costumes.
Our new estimated goal for the new 2017-2018 school year is $4,000. With this money they can finally have their own production for their school, and community. Students, their families, school, and community will work hard to reach this goal.
Your generous contribution to help purchase our students' costumes will provide endless opportunities for our students to perform, create positive role models, and promote cultural awareness. You will also encourage youth to celebrate their cultural roots, and continue onto institutions of higher learning like UCLA.
