Be Our P.O.W.E.R. Source!

P.O.W.E.R. stands for Poets Openly Writing and Expressing Reality. Spoken word as a social emotional curriculum builds community, liberates the mind and spirit, and validates students  as scholars and artists.

After the success of our sixth grade spoken word showcase, I have decided to sponsor an after school spoken word collective for grades 6-8 at the Boston Teachers Union Pilot School in The Jamaica Plain section of Boston, MA. With the guidance of Louder than a Bomb, I will co-facilitate spoken word workshops during the 2015-2016 school year, culminating in a spoken word showcase and a 2016 edition anthology.

If you know me, you know I'd pay out of my pocket to make this happen, but I can't.  I am asking you to help me give these deserving students an outlet to learn more about themselves and the world they live in.  The returns from your donation will reach far beyond the five-month intensive I am facilitating.  We are creating memories and blazing trails that can have a profound affect on these budding artists.
