I have pseudomyxoma peritonei. A very rare form of cancer that is characterized by a cancerous mucus growths in your abdominal cavity that will kill you in various ways as they grow and stop your organs from functioning. It is a very nasty stage 4 cancer and is only treatable by specialists at selective hospitals. The treatment is cytoreductive surgery. Which is a very extreme surgery in which they will remove all or parts of a lot of my organs in the abdominal region and then soak everything in warm chemo for an hour. This surgery usually takes over 10 hours and will require an extended hospital stay of two weeks to two months.
There are many hurdles involved in getting this treatment as I am currently in Japan, where my condition is not fully covered by the national health care. After seeing specialists here in Japan and in America, it is clear to me family that the best course of action is to seek treatment in America. There is no time to waste and the surgery needs to be done soon to increase the chances of it being successful. You can help by donating to my cause or sharing my story. The money will go towards covering the medical costs, that are currently estimated to be around $30,000 with insurance, a set price of $109,000 without.
