Help support our work in prisons!

PASAN is the only community-based organization in Canada providing HIV, AIDS and hepatitis C prevention, education and support services exclusively to prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families, and we need your help.

About Us
We work with prisoners in federal and provincial corrections facilities throughout Ontario, and in partnership with HIV/AIDS organizations and community health centres throughout the province to help ensure ex-prisoners living with HIV get access to health care and don't fall through the cracks when leaving prison. We are a prison abolitionist organization and believe prisons cause irreparable harm to people, including putting prisoners at risk of getting HIV and hepatitis C due to inadequate harm reduction.

Advocating for the human rights of prisoners centers all of PASAN’s work.

We continue to advocate for prisoners’ rights to equivalent access to care, treatment, and support. We challenge laws that unjustly criminalize and stigmatize HIV+ people. We fight to ensure that prisoners have access to the same harm reduction tools and information that is widely available to communities outside of prisons. All of our systemic advocacy work is funded through individual donations. Your support enables our work to fight for the rights of prisoners.

Why we need you!
Much of PASAN's work relies on support by donors like you. While many of our programs are funded by grants from different levels of government, without your support, we can't be in prisons often enough, nor can we provide the programs and services we offer to ex-prisoners living with HIV and hepatitis C through our office in Toronto or in partnership with agencies across the province.

Here's what we can do with your help:

· $25 provides a meal and transportation for an ex-prisoner to attend a workshop at PASAN's offices in Toronto -- workshops that focus on practical topics like finding a place to live, navigating the landlord/tenant relationship, and staying healthy while living with HIV and hepatitis C.

· $50 provides release funds, so a person living with HIV will have money to meet immediate basic needs such as transportation and food upon their release from prison

· $250 allows a PASAN staff member to travel to a corrections facility outside the GTA to conduct a workshop on HIV/HCV prevention and harm reduction.

· $1000 lets us mail one issue of Cell Count to subscribers living in prison – a crucial lifeline for prisoners for information and community-building.

· $2000 provides our annual community meal during the holidays, including a gift for PASAN service users and their immediate families.

All donations over $25 include membership in PASAN and a 1-year subscription to Cell Count. All donations $25 and over are eligible for a tax receipt.

All of us at PASAN are grateful for whatever level of support you can give. If we all work together, we can reach our campaign goal of $10,000, which will help ensure all prisoners living with or at risk of HIV and hepatitis C in Ontario will continue to get the crucial support PASAN provides.
