Osceola Riverfront Revitalization

Donation protected
The cover photo shows the proposed boat ramp. This is not exactly to scale, but it gives the idea of how the ramp will be positioned into the river.

Osceola needs to market its natural beauty and recognize what brought people to the area in 1835; the river, the wildlife, and the beautiful scenery.

The City of Osceola is working to raise funds to restore our riverfront. We are working towards building a new boat ramp. Our current ramp is completely unuseable due to silting. If we relocate and build a new ramp, this will not be an issue.

(This is the site of the existing boat ramp. It was dredged in 2009, and is completely unuseable only 5 years later.)

The steamboats and river transportation once made Osceola rich and influential, but are now part of history. However, the natural aestheitic resource that is the Osage River Valley and Truman Lake Reservoir, which is located only 2 blocks from the City center, is being ignored. Creating a safe venue for fisherman, bicyclists, pedestrians, and other nature enthusiasts will increase the socialization of the area. Viewing waterfowl and wildlife, plus native plants, will offer generations the opportunity to appreciate the importance of being a good steward of the land. Establishing a safe area for boats to transition from water to land will increase safety, as well as proper parking, lighting, and areas for rest and relaxation.

(This shows the proposed boat ramp, restrooms, and walking trail.)

Defining the Riverfront Revitalization with a new boat ramp, lighting, parking and walking areas will encourage this area to be revitalized instead of its current disrepair, and neglectful state.
