ABOUT

O.U.R. Vets Inc is a Florida based 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation established in 2018. The organization provides two different paid internships programs to qualified military veterans with a focus on the live event industry. O.U.R. Vets Inc also provides interactive educational art installations, to the public, covering many aspects of mental health awareness. An all veteran Board of Directors oversees three educational programs with two full-time employees, one part-time employee and over 50 qualified members representing all four branches of service.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Objective

•  To provide every qualified military veteran a paid internship program to learn, grow, and heal while working as a member of team at a live event.

•  To raise awareness of mental health by the means of interactive educational art installations.

•  To grow and sustain these programs through partnerships, sponsorships and donations.

2019 Goals

•  To successfully complete 10 paid internship programs at various events throughout the United States.

•  Grow membership to 200 veterans that complete one of our two vocational programs.

•  Create three different art installations to educate patrons on mental health.

•  Secure funding to sustain all programs.


Project Outline

O.U.R. Vets Inc ., in partnership with industry leaders, will provide paid internships in both production and site construction. In addition, we will use interactive art installations and outreach programs to raise mental health awareness and build relationships with the community.


Boot Camp

A paid internship program for transitioning veterans to acquire training in the production of live events. This high-demand program allows veterans to engage with each other while completing the operational goals of the event. This program is based on the peer support and social inclusion model. It provides an opportunity for veterans who have achieved significant recovery to assist others in their recovery journeys. Peer specialists will provide mentorship and offer support to veterans experiencing mental health challenges. This program is designed and executed exclusively by O.U.R. Vets Inc  veterans and member professionals in order to provide effective training while maintaining the integrity of the peer support model.


A.I.T. (Advance Individual Training)

 A paid internship program for veterans who desire a career in the live event industry. This program works closely with Back of House (BoH) departments to place qualified veterans in departments to learn compatible skills in their desired career path. This program is closely monitored by O.U.R. Vets Inc.  Directors to ensure its effectiveness to the veteran and the event. We aim to produce candidates that are not only self improved, but are also reputable and competitive in the job environment.

Interactive Educational Art Installations

Our interactive art installations are designed, resourced and built by veterans with a focus on mental health awareness, veteran’s issues, and relationship building. We use physical art pieces, TED style presentations, peer panels and performances that are customized and integrated for any particular event.

S.I.T. (Stress Inoculation Therapy) with a Vet

A veteran led panel discussion focusing on situational stress in the context stress generally. Drawing from training and personal experience veterans help to identify the negative outcomes associated with confronting stress and provide techniques of mitigation. The goal of stress inoculation therapy is to recognize that stress is inevitable and that the individual can be taught to anticipate the negative outcomes of a stressful event. With practice and self-discovery we can develop a behavior model to deal with stress in a healthy way.

Humans Are Dope!

This TED style presentation focuses on the commonality of emotions. Lead by O.U.R. Vets President, Frank Rodriguez, this presentation allows an open forum of communication monitored by the presenter. The overall goal of Humans Are Dope, is to induce peer to peer resolution for controlling emotions while dealing with everyday problems. As we all may have different experiences in life, we all display the same emotions. With this concept in mind, we are the solution and together we can find a way to live our best life.

Additional Services

As we strive to bring mental health awareness, we also want to provide all event employees the opportunity, if needed, to speak with one of our trained professionals. This is a dynamic addition to the occupational health of our clientele and enhances our ability to create a healthy overall community.

O.U.R. Vets is driven by pure passion and love for service to others. We strive to break down the barrier of traditional therapy while creating an environment to learn from each other. We want to provide military veterans the opportunity to learn tangible skills in the live event industry. We want to be the voice and assist in the healing of mental illness for everyone, not just our Veteran community. Art goes beyond music, paintings and structures and we believe that creating an environment that induces peer-to-peer healing is a truly powerful form of art that will impact life everyday. Today marks the beginning of growth; growth of O.U.R family, growth of O.U.R.selves and growth within O.U.R. hearts.
