Count The Nuclear Weapons Money

Tax deductible

COUNT THE NUCLEAR WEAPONS MONEY
Today we are faced with the real and present danger of nuclear attacks. Miscalculation and overreaction could lead to a global catastrophe. The world will spend over one trillion dollars over the coming decade to modernize the nuclear arsenals of nine countries. It's complete insanity and a theft of our future. IT'S TIME TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

We need your help to raise $50,000
to put on an event in New York City October 24-30, 2018 .
• We're going to count $1 trillion dollars - to visualize the  scale of this investment and
• We're going to show how the money could be
re-allocated for peaceful and humanitarian needs
• Counters from all over the world will join us and
the event will be live-streamed

Listen to Holger Gūssefeld - about how he came up with the idea for the campaign.

While the  United Nations conducts Nuclear DIsarmament Week in New York October 24-30,
we’re going to Count The Money - by hand $100 million per minute in $1 million mock currency notes. The counting will take place over 7 days and 7 nights. The currency notes will be created by leading international artists.

At the U.N. Press Conference, March 28, 2018

Do You Know How Much Money is Dedicated to Nuclear Weapons? In 2018, the nine nuclear countries will spend over one Billion dollars towards maintaining and modernizing their nuclear arsenals. It’s difficult to justify this amount of spending on nuclear weapons, which will only fuel the continuation of the nuclear arms race.

Here's just one of the one million dollar notes, designed by Michael Green.

What Can We Do? It seems like the spending and budgets of many nations is beyond our control and influence, but it’s not. Civil action effects governments reaction and spending. Although our long-term goal is to eliminate nuclear weapons, we can take short-term actions towards long-term disarmament now.

Counting the $1 million-dollar notes - will establish a visual representation of how much money is at stake. We will raise awareness as to how this money could be reallocated for peaceful means.
