Nikki's Medical Fund

Donation protected
Hello everyone! My name is Jessica Page, I am a college student attending Colorado Mesa University who has difficulty living a normal life due to multiple medical issues. Six years ago, I was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder that makes every day physical activities such as: walking, sitting up, balancing and even standing for long periods of time, very difficult without help.

I was blessed to find that help 5 years ago, in the form of a very cute Golden Retriever puppy: Nikki. She helped me crawl through the depths of a very dark time when I was facing some difficult medical issues associated with my condition. It was within this little ball of fluff that I saw my savior. I took advantage of my time stuck sick at home, unable to attend High School, to train her, but more importantly create an inseparable bond with her. Not long after her second birthday, she was certified as a Mobility Assist Service Animal, who never left my side, and took her job very seriously.

Two years ago, Nikki and I hopped on an airplane in California, and took off to start our new lives in Colorado while attending university. I swear, she made more friends than I did in those first two weeks. Of course, anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting her would know; she is the most lovable dog anyone could ever encounter. She attended every lecture with me, every twenty-four-hour library study session, and every minute sitting in that cafeteria shoving as much food down my throat as possible (Of course, many scraps of said food mysteriously dropped beneath the table into the waiting mouth of Nikki.)

Every goofy act she has done, every time she has made me laugh, and every time she has brought a smile to my face with that beautiful smile of hers, I stop to appreciate what this universe has gifted me. She is there for anyone who needs a smile brought to their faces, and Nikki has always been there for me when I was sick, depressed, or in pain. I want to be able to do the same for her.

On March 1st of 2017, I found out some horrible news. Nikki has been diagnosed with a sizeable tumor along her right mammary tract. This growth has been growing rapidly in size since it was first felt, and will continue to grow larger and cause many health issues if not removed.

As an independent college student working two jobs, paying for all living expenses, taking a full semester workload, as well as working clinical hours, a surgery like this is quite difficult to finance. I love this dog with all my heart and I cannot imagine a life without her. I am asking anyone who will listen, to please help save the dog who has saved me.

I am asking for $1500 to help fund her surgery and all other medical expenses that will be associated with her diagnosis. Anything helps!  I know some people may laugh and scoff at the idea of creating a fund raiser for a dog. But I know that there are at least a few people out there who’s hearts have been touched by Nikki, and would be willing to help.

There are no words that I could possibly use to express my gratitude to those who have even taken the time to read this message, especially if they found it in their hearts to help save the worlds cutest Golden Retriever. Thank you all so much!
