Hello everyone!
I’m a member of Maroochy North Shore Lions . But before I introduce myself properly, I want to ask you – Has anyone in your life been affected by a medical problem, a disease/virus, cancer or allergies?
Medical research benefits everyone at some stage of their lives, Everyone! This, and the way medical issues have affected me, is why my new project is so important and close to my heart.
My name is Nicole Carty, a proud Lions member going on 2 years, a Sunshine Coast local, an avid volunteer and now, a participant in the 2016/2017 Lions Medical Research Personality Quest .
The Personality Quest is one of the major fundraisers for the Lions Medical Research Foundation who fund researchers, each for a 3-year term to work on ground breaking medical discoveries.
The Personality Quest has a proud 50-year history with women focused upon raising funds in their community to assist in the funding of researchers and ultimately the saving of lives. As an entrant in the quest this year, my goal is to raise a$10K for medical research. To achieve my goal I need support from my community in all my fundraising and events. Over the coming 6 months I will seeking donation via this page, as well as hopefully undertake some events within my community. Many of my friends and family are in other states or contries and cannot support this cause locally. It is also a great way for me to be able to share the oportunity to make a difference with everyone across the world who have had their lives affected by a medical problem of any sort - "The research of today could be the cure of tomorrow".
The funds raised by the Personality Quest participants allow Research Fellows (recipients of the Foundation funding) to make life saving discoveries. Well known Professor Ian Frazer, who received seed funding for his research into cervical cancer went on with his team to produce the vaccine Gardasil, thus protecting millions of women against cervial cancer. This is just one of the examples of the amazing work happening at the Foundation.
As well as on Quest Facebook page, I will post all upcoming events and give regular updates to family, friends and members of the community following my journey and providing their generous support!
Feel free to share both this fundraising page and the Quest Facebook page as the more support from family, friends, friends of friends and the community that I receive, the more money we can raise for medical research and ultimalty the saving of lives!
