Nick is a Staff Sergeant/SSG in the Minnesota Army National Guard and has seen battle more than once, but it was here....... at home........when no one expected it...... that he suffered from a tramatic brain injury.

On October 9th, 2015 he was in a motorcycle accident (no one else was involved) that left him unconcious and unresponsive for several days.

When the accident occured he was in the midst of taking a big step....moving in with his girlfriend Brenna. She did not leave his side for more than a few moments for the first week and is only now trying to pull herself away just long enough to care of the everyday details Nick can not handle himself.

He is going through multiple forms of therapy to regain his ability to walk and talk again. He is able to walk with assistance and say a few words at this time.

He is currently unable to work due to his injury but the bills do not stop for the injured. He has medical bills, rent, and utility bills that need to be paid while he is healing......and he has a long road ahead of him.

We ask that the many people that love and support Nick do what they can to help.

Nick is doing well. He is settling in to recovery.....it has really hit a plateau over the last week. He is remembering things from day to day which is an improvement. His speech is still slurred, he gets dizzy when standing a lot, and is ready for a nap after what was once considered a normal "chore". There is a long way still to go but he can carry a general conversation which is such a relief. Updates will be coming less often as progress is slowing...but I will be posting updates as they come.

"Nick's been making good progress. He's super busy during the day with the different therapies. He's usually passed out by the time I get there after work. The rehab doctor did put a restriction on his visitation for now just so Nick gets the rest he needs for therapy the next day. He's only allotted one visitor at a time and no one after 5pm. Please keep Nick in your prayers as he has a long road to recovery still. Thank you to everyone for the prayers and well wishes. Also thank you to everyone for the donations!" Brenna

Nick's making good progress. He's in rehab to work on getting his physical and cognitive functions back. He's in for some pretty rigorous therapy that's going to leave him pretty drained at the end of the day.
