Neil Nillo's Memorial Fund

Neil Nillo checked into the hospital on October 6, 2016, after experiencing jaundice that caused the whites in his eyes and skin to turn yellow. The doctors informed him that there were some abnormalities seen in his CT scan that was a matter for concern. He was admitted to the hospital and had a stent placed in his bile ducts to drain the fluids from his gall bladder. During the procedure, a biopsy was taken from his lymph nodes and tested. On October 12, 2016, Neil and his family were given the devastating news that he was diagnosed with Stage IV cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct) cancer.

Cholangiocarcinoma is one of the rarest and most aggressive forms of cancer that affect the biliary system and surrounding organs. In Neil's case, cancer has spread to his liver and lymph nodes in his pelvis, abdomen, and chest. We are staying optimistic and pray that there is a breakthrough in treatment that can help prolong his life. Chemotherapy is to start soon at Scripps Medical Center in San Diego after approval from his insurance providers. We continue to seek alternative medical opinions from experts at universities such as UCSD and UCSF who are working to discover a breakthrough.

To those that do not know Neil Nillo, he is one of the most caring, generous, and genuine people you'll ever meet. Two years ago he beat the odds after waking up from a month-long induced coma in ICU from complications of pneumonia that almost took his life.

His love for his career is seen through the dedication and hard work performed through his many travels throughout the country. Neil works for a great company that supplies educational hardware to schools all over the world. He has so much love for his friends and family. The news of being diagnosed with cancer has been extremely hard for Neil to cope with, and we continue to pray for a miracle everyday.

The purpose of this fundraiser is to assist in the financial burden of medical bills on Neil and his family. He currently lives in San Diego, CA. His family has been traveling to San Diego from Virginia and Northern California. Any donation is much appreciated.

Anything that exceeds Neil's actual medical costs will be donated to The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
