Neil Nillo's Memorial Fund
Cholangiocarcinoma is one of the rarest and most aggressive forms of cancer that affect the biliary system and surrounding organs. In Neil's case, cancer has spread to his liver and lymph nodes in his pelvis, abdomen, and chest. We are staying optimistic and pray that there is a breakthrough in treatment that can help prolong his life. Chemotherapy is to start soon at Scripps Medical Center in San Diego after approval from his insurance providers. We continue to seek alternative medical opinions from experts at universities such as UCSD and UCSF who are working to discover a breakthrough.
To those that do not know Neil Nillo, he is one of the most caring, generous, and genuine people you'll ever meet. Two years ago he beat the odds after waking up from a month-long induced coma in ICU from complications of pneumonia that almost took his life.
His love for his career is seen through the dedication and hard work performed through his many travels throughout the country. Neil works for a great company that supplies educational hardware to schools all over the world. He has so much love for his friends and family. The news of being diagnosed with cancer has been extremely hard for Neil to cope with, and we continue to pray for a miracle everyday.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to assist in the financial burden of medical bills on Neil and his family. He currently lives in San Diego, CA. His family has been traveling to San Diego from Virginia and Northern California. Any donation is much appreciated.
Anything that exceeds Neil's actual medical costs will be donated to The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
Please share this with others.
On behalf of the Nillo family and myself, we would like to thank everyone for all the love & support and generous donations. It has been a tough road since our beloved Neil departed from us, but the outpouring of love and compassion from you all has helped us tremendously to cope. Again we "Thank You".
It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart to say that Neil lost his battle with cancer and passed away early this morning. He was surrounded by his family. We appreciate the ongoing support and outpouring of love for Neil through this very difficult time. We continue to need donations as now the funds will go towards funeral arrangements.
Rest in Peace Neil. We love you brother.
11/3/16 - Went in to have a port catheter placed in his chest, but the operation was canceled when they found a blood clot in his leg. He was given blood thinners and told to reschedule the procedure.
11/4/16 - His Oncologist decided they could not postpone the procedure because of how aggressive the cancer is. He had the port catheter installed.
11/7/16 - Neil reported for chemo, but had to get admitted because of low oxygen levels. The doctors found that a blood clot had traveled from his leg to his lungs. Keep the prayers coming. Hopefully, his condition improves through the night so he can make it to UCSD Moores Cancer for a second opinion.
Please reach out to Neil through calls, text or FB to keep his spirits up..
Neil is scheduled to go in tomorrow to have a port inserted in his chest for chemotherapy treatments. The first treatment is scheduled for Monday 11/7.
We are awaiting a second opinion, which should be in by the end of the week. Thanks for all the support and continue to pray for Neil.
