Help Replace the Navigation Unit

Hi,

I'm Derek a Friendly Lyft driver from the Greater Los Angeles Area.

On the 25th of February I was driving a group of passengers, and for the first time in a little over 3 years of driving for Lyft,  One of them threw up in my car.

Normally this would not be a problem. Lyft has a very good coverage for detailing cars after a mess is made. However, their coverage does not really extend to damage done directly to ones vehicle.  The maximum Lyft gives to their drivers is 250.00, and they refuse to give their insurance information over to cover any damages above, unless you've been in an accident.

The problems is this, as you can see on the picture, the throw-up got into my CD-Rom player and shorted my entire Navigational Unit.  It won't come on.  Toyota took a look and said that they would have to replace it, to do so would cost about 2551.00 for the part, plus installation, and reprogramming of the GPS system. The bill could be as high as 3700.00.  Calliber Collisions quoted me 9000.00 for just the unit, which is insane, and apparently no-body else has the unit available except 3 people across the US and only one has it listed at 3000.00.

The Navigational unit brings music to my passengers ears, Safe driving through hands free  bluetooth communication, and the option to have my passengers even play their own music through the Aux cord or Bluetooth them selves.  It also supplies a much needed interface for the back-up camera system in the car, without I have extremely low visibility when backing up in any given area, due to the cars build.

Currently as a few of you know I haven't been able to work that much or often due to pain in my back from being run over by a car. I've also had Pneumonia for a month and a back surgery that put me out of working for a month.

The bad luck has to stop soon, I'm praying. With your help atleast this part of something I cannot afford can be paid for.

Lyft won't help any further than the 250.00 they are giving for the clean-up, I've contacted them quite a few times with the same result. So, I'm turning to you and asking your help.

I appreciate your support very very much.

Sincerely,

Derek

Everything is working a far less than the cost that it was going to be. So I'm pulling this down. I will be getting a subpoena to get the passengers information through Lyft and then I will personally sue the passenger for damages at small claims court. As for Lyft I've stopped working for them. Uber even though it seems like the villain company has better policies in regards to damages to your vehicle, and their out of pocket for an accident on their insurance is 1500.00, 1000.00 less than Lyft. Which is much more feasable. I guess when you drink the coolaid with Lyft, you lose sight of what they really offer and what they are really about. They in my eyes have become worse than what Uber use to be, and Uber is becoming better than what Lyft is currently.

Thank you to Wilman at Hollywood Calliber Collision, David at Toyotapartsonly.com and Ofer at Galaxy Auto and Sound in Northridge for helping me get my navigation and sound system back up and running for $600.00 You guys are the best!

So I inquired about the passenger to Lyft to see if I can take them to small claims court to recover for damages. They want me to get a subpoena from a judge to release their passengers information to me to be able to get their information. So basically Lyft will not help you more than 250.00, will not help you to recover any losses with their insurance, and will not assist in the passengers information if you need to recover your losses through court.

So this is what I see Lyft is really saying... Vandalize anyone's car you want and pay only 100.00 for it, then laugh at the driver for stupidly giving you a ride. When you get banned, you just create a new account and do it all over again. This is just my opinion of what Lyft is really standing for now-a-days.
