Hello!
My name is Michael Guglielmo and I am a pro drummer, nationally board certified music therapist serving special education children in NYS Public Schools, and a adjunct music professor at The Ross School.
I am raising funds to cover the cost of bringing "developmentally enabled" children together with children with no disabilities, for a free Peconic River cruise music "expression session" on the Riverhead Aquarium Atlantis Explorer Boat on August 11, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The group of 72 capacity will go out on the river, embrace the natural sounds of the river and the wildlife, and then on the Atlantis Explorer engage in a percussive music expression session.
This is my creative Jumpstart project that is part of The East End Arts Council Jumpstart Festival on August 11th. Jumpstart is a 6 month professional development program for artists. All of the Jumpstart artists with their own unique creations will be coming together in downtown Riverhead at various places that day. I feel grateful and Blessed that the diverse children will have an opportunity to engage in a dynamic percussive music "expression session" on the Peconic River.
I utilize the words developmentally enabled rather than developmentally disabled... enabled; giving individuals the means to create. Music, a universal means of expression.
