Hello Everyone!
I have been accepted to study abroad, over the course of 3 weeks, this summer in Lisbon, Portugal. In Lisbon, I will be shadowing a doctor for 20 hours a week and learning a great deal of valuable information.
This opportunity was presented to me through the Atlantis Fellowship Program. The Atlantis Fellowship is a program that truly believes in helping students in becoming integrated with professionals around the world. They believe the doctors we shadow can be of great help to us in our future endeavors, and I completely agree. With this program I will be connected with doctors in hospitals across the world. It is designed to help students like me understand their place in the medical and laboratory fields and get first-hand experience shadowing physicians.
As you all may know, getting serious shadowing experience in the United States is both extremely competitive and rigorously regulated. And shadowing experience is required for many graduate and medical schools. Not only will I get to shadow international physicians, but I will get to rotate weekly through various specialties, go on group excursions to experience my host country’s culture, connect with other Atlantis fellowship students around the world, grow personally through this international experience, and volunteer to help tutor English to hospital staff.
I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to read this letter to learn about my summer plans. Unfortunately, the Atlantis Program does not offer any financial aid or scholarships. The total cost for the Fellowship, flight expense, and my meals is $5,000. This is where I need your help. I would greatly and utterly appreciate a contribution of any amount.
