Molly Autio Fundraiser

Donation protected

This gofundme will support one of my closest friends Molly Autio. Recently on a hike to a waterfall, Molly jumped 50 feet into the water from a popular jump spot and landed on a rock just under the water. The impact left her with a compound fracture of her femur and shattered her Patella as well as severe nerve damage in her left foot. With no cell phone reception to call for help, her two close friends, Lexi and Maddie and her younger brother, Kenny were watching from above, as well as a retired marine, Shawndel who was a complete stranger to Molly, yet is now considered Molly's guardian angel by her mom, Nancy.  Shawndel hiked down to the bottom of the mountain and managed to round up approximately 15 guys at the scene and these  kind strangers spent 4 1/2  hours stabalizing Molly and her leg with a splint (thank you Shawndel! ) and they all hoisted her up the mountain with the rope they cut from the falls. Once back up the mountain, Shawndel  carried Molly on his back for a mile until they could finally reach the San Luis Obispo Medics who could not get to her by ambulance or helicopter. It took over an hour ride in an ambulance to the nearest hospital, the Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo. Thank God Molly knew one of the nurses, Drew Risner, a friend of Nancy and Tim’s, who stayed by her side until her mom arrived (Thank you Drew!) Sierra Vista stabilized Molly with her first surgery to clean out the debris of the water.  (Thank you Dr. Fow!) The next day she was transferred to Stanford University medical Center for surgery, by a four hour long ambulance ride. Molly stayed in the hospital at Stanford for a week, along with her parents and her brother and their very supportive friend, Beth. She is currently recovering at home until she can go to back school at Arroyo Grande High. By donating to this gofundme you will be helping support Molly by helping pay for medical bills and ambulance rides, Hotel accommodations as well as the physical therapy and continued healthcare she will need over the next 12 months. It will also help support Molly‘s family who have put their lives and work on hold to help Molly recover. To date, Molly is using a walker and a wheelchair and her mom, Nancy is her primary caregiver. As well as Tim, Kenny and all of her friends who come by to visit. Not only is Molly one of the kindest people I know, but the strongest as well, and anything you can donate to Molly to help her with these expenses is appreciated immensely by her loved ones. Anyone who knows Molly, can understand that her immediate future with soccer (Voted MVP of our entire soccer league and a scholarship to Missourie Southern State in the fall) and life as we all know it, is going to be a huge change for Molly. She will stay home with her family in the fall for her year long recovery. Her family and friends are grateful that she is alive and appreciate all of the love and support thus far. Please keep the prayers coming. Gratefully, Alyssa Soares
