On Saturday, April 22, 2017 tragedy struck our family in an unimaginable way. Michael was involved in a horrific car accident that left him severely injured, and left us with little hope. Being the strong, close knit family that we are, we stayed as strong as we could as Michael fought hour to hour, minute to minute, and second to second. We held on to any hope we had and prayed that with medical help and the faith of our family and friends that he would fight through and come back to us.
Heartbreakingly, on Tuesday evening, Michael succumbed to his injuries and gained his wings at the young age of 21.
Many bystanders were able to help save Michael from the car, which gave us the chance to tell him we love him one more time. It also gave us the chance to hold him and tell him goodbye. We are extremely grateful for the selfless acts of so many strangers on that tragic day.
Anyone that knew Michael, knew what an amazing guy he was, funny, smart, and so kind, someone who would have done anything for anyone.
Michael was a son, a brother, a grandson, an uncle, and a friend to so many people who are now left heartbroken and with a void that can never be filled.
He was so excited to start planning his life with his long time girlfriend, getting ready to start a new chapter, and all that was taken from him. To say that he will be missed is an understatement. Life will truly never be the same without him here. One thing I do know, and I hope will bring comfort to anyone who was blessed to have had him in their lives, is that he will always be with us. Laughing even if we can't hear it, smiling even if we can't see it, and giving great big bear hugs even if we can't feel them.
Michael didn't get the chance to live his life like he should have, but in the short 21 years we had him, he brought nothing but joy to us all. Those memories will forever live in each of our hearts.
I started this go fund me page in hopes that we, the family, could get any help that we can with the costs of Michaels extensive medical bills and for his services. Our family is not the type to ever reach out and ask for help, but I don't think anyone ever expects a tragedy as big as this to happen to such a young man. I ask that you can find it in your heart to please help our family in any way that you can. No amount is ever too small.
