The McFarland Animal Shelter (McFarland, CA) is a small, rural shelter with 24 kennels that are always full. The shelter is an open air facility with a metal roof. In the summer the temperature routinly exceeds 100 degrees. On the day this Fundraiser was started (July 29th, 2015) the temperature at eleven o'clock in the morning was 91 degrees and the high expected to reach 107. The temperature at the shelter reached 112.

Big Fogg ‌headquartered in Temecula, California was contacted to design and install a misting system that will spray a fine mist around the perimeter of the shelter cooling the space within by as much as 20 - 30 degrees. This is the same type of misting system Big Fogg builds for use on restaurant patios, sporting events, outdoor venues.

PLEASE consider assisting this worthwhile cause in providing relief to the dogs residing at the McFarland Animal Shelter.

100% of your donation will go to the misting system.

Administrative costs of the fund raiser have been covered.

March 10th, 2016 UPDATE!

Hello everyone!

It's been awhile and with this update I have grrrrr8t news!

The install and "Grand First Misting Day" is scheduled for March 24th/25th!!!!!!!

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everyone's continued support through the delays we have experienced ...... a well pump that went bad, electrical and water works that needed to be permitted and completed before the install ....... you name it and it caused delays and problems .... however all of this is behind us now ...... Big Fogg is anxious to get this installed in time for the 2016 summer season.

Pictures of the install and first use of the misting system to follow!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE! THANK YOU FOR STICKING WITH THE PROJECT! THANK YOU!

McFarland Animal Shelter Cool Down Update! October 30th, 2015

This overdue update has both good and “less than good” news (not terrible news though!) ……. and I’m as disappointed as I’m sure you are.

First the good news! The temperatures have dropped considerably in the San Joaquin Valley as they are mostly through fall heading into winter. The dogs definitely are a lot better with the change in weather!

Now the “less than good news”. The misting system is on hold. Why? Mechanical breakdown at the shelter …… and I’ve been hopeful that this would have been rectified by now and the misting system installed, tested and operational for the last hot weather days in 2015 and this update wouldn’t have been necessary instead being an update about the install and how awesome the misting system is (and will be!).

What is the problem? Big Fogg was ready to install the system when the pump for the well broke down. I was hoping that the well pump would have been fixed by now however it hasn’t. It’s an expensive fix evidently, it is scheduled for repair.

What is the shelter doing about water? The shelter has to have water delivered to refill the temporary above ground tank that serves the shelter. They are on water rationing. They do have adequate water for the care (drinking, cleaning, bathing, laundry, etc.) of their residents.

Until the well is fixed the system cannot be installed. That’s the bottom line.

Here is a message from Big Fogg: “Big Fogg looks forward to completing the McFarland Animal Shelter Cool Down Misting System once the well issue has been resolved.” –Chris Miehl, President, Big Fogg.

I will keep everyone updated for the install, testing and “the first dog-gone hot day” of use at McFarland Animal Shelter. I understand the frustration that some of us will experience over this …. I’m one of the donors myself!

I want to be transparent and contactable for any of you that have a concern. Therefor I post my business email as well as my direct line.

Thank you for donating, your understanding as well as continued support.
