REFUGE PROJECT
About a year ago, our family moved to Tangier, Morocco. We befriended the beautiful stray dogs that lived near our complex .
On Tuesday 9th June 2015, six of the strays had their lives taken away from them. They had been poisoned by someone who had fed them strychnine in meat slices.
One of the dogs that died left five puppies and the other two surviving dogs had also just given birth to puppies. We looked after the five orphaned three week old puppies in our apartment and the two remaining mothers and their offspring were temporarily put in a locked garden for safety.
However, the dogs in the locked garden were still in danger without 24 hour watch and we knew we had to find a perfect solution for all the dogs and puppies, and we did! A piece of land in Chefchaoeun. A plateau, overlooking a valley, surrounded by woodland and hills. A perfect place for all the dogs and puppies, where they could run and play together in peace and above all safety.
We have constructed a small sanctuary on the land but desperately need YOUR help and support to raise funds to help us keep it running.

We are currently undertaking some much needed renovation works on the refuge, to make sure the beautiful dogs are all safe, dry and happy during the winter months. During the year we have managed to rehome over 20 stray dogs and our resident dogs are still thriving and enjoying the beautiful Riff Mountains of Morocco! xxx
