Mason's Medical Emergency Fund

$5,925 of $15,000 goal

Raised by 108 people in 13 months
Created February 21, 2018
Our Grandson Mason has been diagnosed with a disease called Adrenoleukodystrophy, or ALD. The disease is very serious and can be fatal if not properly treated.

My Son Joshua and his family will be heading to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota on 2/25 to start the eligibility process of getting a Bone Marrow Transplant.

Bone Marrow transplant is a long process. Chemotherapy strips him of his bone marrow to make room for the transplanted Marrow. Without this, the disease will progress and evetually be fatal. This is a very scary time for us all.

The length of treatment can last for up to 3 months. 3 Months out of work with no pay coming in is an impossible task to bear. Having to deal with the onset of a son with this disease is enough, they shouldn't be put to the task of worrying about where income will be coming from as well.

Any donations for this cause, will be appreciated and used for this purpose. Thank you, God Bless.

Since Mason's transplant on April 26, 2018 everything was going better than anyone could have pictured, even the doctors were impressed and excited. Mason was never readmitted after he left the hospital just 12 days after transplant which was almost unheard of. He was able to go back home to Michigan on August 2, 2018. Mason was still doing fantastic until the night of August 13, 2018, he threw up twice before going to bed but did not have a fever. On August 14 at 7am he spiked a fever so we headed straight to Mott's children's hospital in Ann Arbor where he is currently still in ICU. Mason was sedated for two days on a ventilator. They found pnomonia in his right lung but all other cultures have been negative. He is now off sedation but still needs a breathing mask to help him breathe due to finding fluid in his lungs from all the fluids he received while here. Both Joshua and I are
here by his side so again we currently do not have any income until we return to work whenever Mason makes a recovery. We appreciate your continued prayers and support.

Yesterday, April 26, Mason received his cord blood transplant. A lady from the chapel in the hospital came to his room before the transplant to say a blessing. The transplant went as well as it could have gone. He got an upset stomach but only for a few minutes then it was gone. The entire process took about an hour and 45 minutes and Mason was asleep for most of it. After his transplant, the hospital's child life specialist gave Mason a bunch of presents and a balloon. He played with all of them and was in a good mood, dancing on his play mat. It probably couldn't have gone any better. Mason even woke up in a good mood today and is still doing good so far. We appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers as they are definitely still needed. Donations are also still needed being that the Ronald McDonald House only provides free dinner and we are still trying to keep up with our bills, without having any income besides this GoFundMe page. Thank you all for your support!
