Mason's Journey

It’s every parent’s fear to think that there could be anything wrong with their child. You do everything you can to love them, keep them healthy, and to protect them.  Mason is a happy, energetic, and loving, 21 month old little boy and was recently diagnosed with a rare Brain Tumor known as Hypothalamic Hamartoma, which is located in the center of his brain. The HH Tumor is known for causing Grand Mal seizures and the more frequent Gelastic (laughing seizures) which currently average 25 times per day.  If left untreated the brain tumor will increase the seizures intensity and frequency as he grows up.  

Mason is currently on expensive medications and Brain surgery is the only hope to stop or lessen the seizures. The Hypothalamic Hamartoma tumor is also causing Mason to suffer from Precocious Puberty (early onset). As a result he will require another surgery annually where they implant a chip in his arm. This device will release hormones to stop the body from continuing to go through the puberty process.  

Mason’s family will continue to travel to Boston for appointments with specialists and eventually his multiple surgeries.   If you would like to contribute to help Meredith and Matthew with some of the expenses, I am sure they would be thankful.
