Mary's Lenses to Help Her See Again
$5,450 of $5,400 goal
Mary needs your help to afford 2 Lenses for her eyes.
Total cost is $10,000 of which Medicare only covers $3600 and family has donated what they can.
Mary's History with Cancer
At only 43 years old and raising a 4 year old son, Mary Raimondo was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma. As part of Mary's treatment plan, she underwent a bone marrow transplant (thanks to her sister as a match!) in 2013 & 2014. The procedure was a success, but a common side effect is Graph Versus Host Disease (GVHD). GVHD is an autoimmune disease that can affect many different parts of the body; the skin, eyes, mouth, stomach and intestines are affected most often. GVHD can range from mild to life-threatening.
How BostonSight PROSE Treatment Can Help
Mary will have her visual function restored and quality of life transformed with Boston's innovative treatment: PROSE. BostonSight PROSE (prosthetic replacement of the ocular surface ecosystem) treatment uses FDA-approved customized prosthetic devices to support impaired ocular surface system functions that protect and enable vision.
Benefits of BostonSight PROSE
*Reduces ocular chronic GVHD symptoms of pain and light sensitivity and supports healing by restoring a healthy ocular surface environment
*Improves blurry vision by masking irregularities on the cornea’s surface and transmitting a sharp image to the back of the eye
*Prevents further damage by protecting and shielding the cornea against the environment and eyelids.
Thank you all again for your generosity.
