Born in 1921 in Denver, CO., as Mary Regina Martin, to parents Clearance and Margaret Martin, with brother John (Jack). From a young age, Mary and her family were devoted to their faith and she attended Cathedral High School. Upon her graduation, she started her career as an operator with Mountain Bell from where she retired.
Mary and husband Jack Hannon, had three children they cherished, Patricia (Patty) Ann, Paula Jean, and Michael. They soon welcomed their only two grandchildren, Brandy and Billy, from daughter Patty.
Mary and Jack experienced an unthinkable tragedy by losing their middle child, Paula Jean, to diabetes at a very young age.
In 1985, Mary and Jack set their eyes on retirement and relocated the beaches of Daytona. Within 2 months of their move, Jack passed away in his sleep from a heart attack.
Mary made a new life in Daytona Beach and surrounding areas and lived at the Admiralty Club in Daytona Beach Shores. Here, as a resident for over 35 years, she created deep friendships, lasting a lifetime that was extremely important to her. In addition, upon her arrival to Daytona, Mary’s strong faith in the Catholic Church led her to be a very active and loved parishioner at Church of the Epiphany. The experiences and friendships she made within her church community was a predominate part of her life and she loved everyone immensely. She had a deep friendship with Reverend Monsignor Paul T. Kamide, Jr, until his passing in 2010. Mary soon grew very fond of and close to Fr. John Bosco Maison who succeeded father Paul.
In 2002 Mary returned to Colorado for the funeral of her brother Jack, a retired Denver Police Officer. In 2005 Mary had to once again experience the loss of a child with her eldest daughter Patty from heart disease. In 2008, for a third, and final time, Mary had to endure the loss of her only son Michael from a heart attack. Though Mary experienced great family loss over the years, she attributed her continued happiness and strength to her devotion to her faith, as well as her lifelong friendships providing immense support.
Due to an unexpected stroke in 2011, Mary left her residence at the Admiralty Club and was omitted to Port Orange Nursing & Rehab Center, which would become her final residence. She cherished the staff and caregivers as though each was her family. On April 24th, at 3:45 pm, Mary exhausted her last breath in the care of Hospice and the nursing home. Mary was excited to have her grandchildren to be with her the week prior, during Easter and they also returned days before her passing to be with her.
Mary will be forever remembered with her styled white hair, her warming, sincere, laugh, beautiful smile, and shining blue eyes.
Brandy and Billy are extremely thankful for the vast friendships Mary had cultivated over the years. They are grateful for their support and sharing of what an inspiration Mary has been to them.
She is survived by her Granddaughter, Brandis Leigh Ranshaw, Grandson Bill Ranshaw, Niece Theresa Martin, and Nephews, Rich & John Martin, all residing in the Denver Area.
