Mark Monk Hubbard Memorial Fund

$54,028 of $100,000 goal

Raised by 508 people in 4 months
Created June 11, 2018
Monk was a brother to all, and his absence leaves a huge gap in the skateboarding world. A builder, a trailblazer, a rail rider, a creative imaginer, a musician, a ripper, he was a spark that burned bright in the DIY revolution of skating.

He was family to us, one of our own, but of course he had his own family as well -- his wife Jenny, and children Kaya, Leona and Odin. We are creating this memorial fund to ease the shock and financial burden of Mark's passing, and to help provide for the future. Any amount is appreciated, 100% of the proceeds will go to Jenny and the kids.

We will miss him but try to find solace in the knowledge that his work and influence and spirit will remain long after his passing. Thank you.

Marks family wants to say Thank You. Reading the names and comments on this site has been a gift to our hearts to feel the connections that Mark makes for all of us. We love him so much and will miss him every day for all of our lives. And we will continue to feel the intense gratitude for our time with his powerful love, his incredible humor, his genius vision and artistry, his faith in us, and his hard work and care for all of us. We also want to share with you how these generous and loving funds have been used. We used these funds for Mark's burial, it was a green, no casket gift back to the earth on sacred forested lands. Thank you. Also Grindline The Band is now debt free from recording time, CD s, equipment and travel expenses. Thank you. We gave some of your gifts to the Stronghold Society to support their plan to make sure kids have high quality skateboards and shoes when they ride Pine Ridge and Future Skate parks. Thank you. And the rest will be set aside for Mark's children, Kaya, Leona and Odin, for their future choices on this wild planetary ride. Thank you. So much love to you.

Hi all -- I just want to say thank you to everyone who has donated for Mark's family. They have already started to run into expenses, expected and unforeseen, but above all I think they are touched by the outpouring of love and support. Mark's memorial session at Delridge last Friday was a wonderful gathering in honor of our friend, and to see events around the globe on his behalf was truly inspiring. The South Park addition and other DIY and public spots are continuing to be built, and continuing Mark's dreams and work. Although we will miss him dearly, the spark he lit continues to burn bright.
