Maia's miracle

Donation protected
Maia came from my hometown, Chicago, IL,  given to me by a family member in a most opportune time.  After serving almost 11 years in the military, I was unexpectedly diagnosed with PTSD.  Away from my family, Maia was trained to help me cope with my difficulties.

I have to thank my trainer, Barb Mattes, my old counselor, Susan Gorman -R.I.P, and the Susquehanna Service dog center, Megan Irizarry,  for being there to help guide us.

Anyone who who ever met Maia has known how loving and empathetic she can be. My yard was her play field. She knew when it was time to get mommy out for some futbol.  She would put her wet nose on me gently on my skin when I was caught up in my situational depression. Balls of all sizes are her favorite.  Running like a bullet was her specialty. She has always been such a happy girl. I'm more than honored to have her as part of my family.

It it breaks my heart to see her this injured especially after everything she has helped me through. She is my companion, she is my anchor, my family...

Maia has been to the emergency room twice, both prognosis came back with a request for spinal surgery. Unfortunately, we cannot afford the surgery nor many of the preliminary tests/services required.

It is without a doubt, entirely difficult to write this. Asking for help is not my forte.

If if you can find it in your heart to donate what you can, I would be so humbled. If you can, if you can't I just ask you to pray for my fur baby.

Thank you, God bless
