Free Therapy for Black Women
Donation protected
Hi! I'm Quinn, a licensed psychotherapist in Washington, D.C. and owner of Magnolia Mental Health (www.magnoliamhealth.com). I specialize in women's issues, trauma, LGBTQ issues, and minority-related topics (inlcuding race based trauma and microaggressions). Part of my dream as a therapist is to provide low cost, affordable mental health treatment for minorities, and through my practice, MMH, I have been able to donate thousands of free hours of psychotherapy and during times of crisis (Pulse, 2016 Election, Muslim Ban). I currently provide free therapy to Trans and Muslim persons. I want to expand my services to provide free therapy for 6 months to 5 black women in the D.C. area, with a max of 24 sessions each (weekly or biweekly sessions for 6 months). Black women are underrepresented in the mental health community, and as a Black woman, I feel the need to help others who look like me. I would like to be able to provide these free services on a recurring basis. The women will be chosen based on random selection from submissions on my practice's website. I chose 5 as I am the only therapist at my practice and with my current caseload, 5 is the most I could take on at a time, ensuring the best possible care for all my clients. The money will be used to cover my fees, expenses, and rent for my office (my regular rate is $120/hr, but I am reducing it to $90/hr). My goal is to help heal as many people as possible, and if I could do this without needing help I would. Help me help others by donating or spreading the word. #BlackTherapistsMatter #BlackMentalHealthMatters.
