Help Miss Macie and the Braces

Donation protected
Miss Macie has had a rough couple weeks. On February 9th she was brought to Mercy Hospital with trouble breathing and was diagnosed with Pneumonia. The Mercy Hospital Doctors were unable to treat her so on the evening of the 9th she was taken via ambulance to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. She was taken to the pediatric intensive care and put on a ventilator on the evening of the 10th and heavily sedated, and because of this they were unable to hold their child, which is heartbreaking for any parent.

The doctors closely monitored her breathing and blood pressure. The Doctors stated she had to get worst before she gets better.

On the Feb 13th, Macie had to undergo a blood transfusion because her hemoglobin was low. It went well and her levels rose to where they should be. They took off her muscle relaxers so she is able to wiggle around and move but is still sedated because of the ventilator or IV lines. They were able to do breathing treatments on the 13th as well which she was unable to do a few days before. She also coughed on her own which was a HUGE improvement! She is getting better!!

On the 17th, Macie had her breathing tube removed!! She was still working harder to breathe than normal so she wasn’t off forever but was moved from the ICU since she needs less attention.

Since Macie has made huge improvements. On the 18th she was off oxygen but still had the feeding tube and is one monitors but resting comfortably. They had to increase her caloric to make sure that she is getting better.

The evening of the 18th Macie had a rough night and was put back on oxygen support because she had to focus so much on breathing and is not taking bottles yet. Still has her feeding tube. She took a couple of steps back and but is still making amazing progress.

Finally, on Feb 22nd, after 14 days in the ICU Macie has graduated to a regular floor! She is being weaned off the oxygen and is starting to eat from a bottle. She is also being weaned off the her pain killers and well. Stephanie and Dennis had to start going back to work on Feb 2rd in alternating shifts in order to have some income come in.

All the money for this campaign will go to help Stephanie and Dennis be able to pay for the hospital bills, to help them with their lost income, and all extra will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House that has been instrumental in housing and feeding Dennis and Stephanie during the hardest couple weeks of their lives. We appreciate anything you are able to give to help these wonderful people who would do the same for everyone they know.
