Why I'm Fundraising

My adorable cousin Carin was born with ML4, a rare Jewish genetic disease. Please support the ML4 Foundation and research for this rare disease.

LinkedIn's Giving Tuesday 3x Match

For Giving Tuesday, LinkedIn is matching your donation THREE TIMES over! That means the impact of your donation goes such a far way. Please consider supporting this important cause however you can.

What is ML4?

Mucolipidosis Type IV was first identified as a genetic lysosomal storage disease in 1974. Children with ML4 begin to exhibit developmental delays during the first year of life and many parents often pursue ophthalmologic evaluations for pseudo-strabismus. Read more at http://ml4.org/.

The Mission of ML4

ML4 is a genetic disease causing mental retardation, retinal degeneration, gross and small motor dysfunction, and limited lifespan. The Foundation’s mission is to fund, support, and promote medical research dedicated to developing treatments and a cure for ML4.

Get Tested - Genetic Screening

It is so important to get screened, especially for Jewish genetic diseases.

80% of babies with genetic diseases are born to parents with no known family history of that disease. Early genetic screening is an important step in planning for a healthy family, and allows you to take control and make choices about your future. Everyone wants a healthy baby – and planning for a bright future starts before you decide to become pregnant.

What It Means to be a Carrier

Being a carrier of a genetic disease means that even though you or your partner do not show symptoms, you can still pass that disease to your child. If you and your partner are both carriers of the same disease gene, each of your children has a 25% chance of being born with the disease itself.

Thank you!

My adorable, lovely cousin Carin

Heatfelt thanks,
Jeremy
