HELP SAVE OUR NATIONAL FOREST

Help Save Your National Forest. Please help us fight the U.S. Forest Service’s plan to CUT DOWN 1 MILLION TREES in Boulder and Gilpin counties, Colorado, one of the most important pristine areas left in a country of seriously shrinking forestland. These trees would add to the 319,000,000 acres deforested nationally since 1990. Beginning in October, the Forest Service intends to cut our healthy forest under the guise of wildfire management. Their methods (clear cut and drastic thinning) and results directly contradict current scientific research, actually INCREASE fire hazard, and are disputed by their own scientists. There is no valuable timber here, just a diverse ecological area that is home to bear, moose, elk, mountain lion, bobcat, deer, marmots, chipmunk, to name a few wild inhabitants. It is an important elk migration corridor. There are nesting birds, like northern goshawks, golden eagles, great horned owls, broadtail hummingbirds. The area is popular for hiking, hunting, fishing, bird watching, photography, XC skiing, and camping as well as full-time living. Under the Forest Service plan, the raw beauty of these mountains and meadows, rivers and creeks, waterfalls and dramatic rock outcroppings at the base of the Rocky Mountains will be destroyed. It is up to us, as Americans, to save our National Forests from destruction, and we need your help in preventing this from happening. By saving our own forest, we are on the path to saving other forests and values that we all share. Our goal is to raise $70,000 as a legal defense fund, and for public education.
