Lucky the Sugar Glider Saves Others
On February 2, 2012, I was rescued by the AZ Sugar Glider Rescue along with 18 other sugar gliders from an animal hoarder. When we arrived we were all sick and injured. I, personally, had my right back foot stuck in the bars of the cage. I had been there for so long my leg was broken and my foot was dead. The loving people at AzSGR had emergency surgery performed at the cost of over $900, and then spent weeks rehabilating me. If not for their love and devotion to sugar gliders, I wouldn't be alive today. Now I make trips to schools, summer programs, and other events to educate people regarding proper care of sugar gliders.
The truth is, I'm not the only one to be in this kind of horrible need upon arrival to AzSGR. Here are some of my friends who arrived needing urgent veterinary care.
Bonnie - In a cage for 1 1/2 years mistreated and chewed her pouch and stomach open. Saved!
Lil Daddy - Severe facial abcess and infection. Saved!
Kush - Cancer on his tail and spreading. Saved!
These are just a few of us the AzSGR has helped, and they continue fighting to help and protect more sugar gliders every day. We're asking for your support to help keep the fight going so many more sugar gliders get a chance. A chance to be treated for medical issues, a chance to be rehabilitated, and best of all, a chance to find loving forever homes.
Calafia finally had her tail surgery yesterday! She had an injury that was not treated leaving bone exposed and putting her at risk of infection but now she's recovering. Your donations made this possible! Next Tahoe needs to have her eye surgery.
Yermo Yunion Update!
13 of them made the trip yesterday. It was a long way but it went great. Next the rest when ready.
We must give a huge Thank You and our appreciation to @prisonhillbrewco Prison Hill Brewing Co Yuma, AZ. When we transport people met to switch animals yesterday we were literally going to have to rush, meaning no food and leg stretching. But Prison Hill went out of their way to accommodate us and 13 gliders, 4 guinea pigs (going to another rescue) and Sherman the hedgehog. We were able to keep the animals cool and safe, get some oh so yummy food and all they asked was to meet Sherman. If you're in Yuma be sure to give them your business and appreciation.
